Bonds had an OBP over .600 in '04. Has that ever been done? To think the guy made an out less times than perennial .400 OBP guys like Thome, ARod, Delgado, etc. got on base is unreal.

In 2004, Bonds got out less often than all but 17 other players got *on* base.

Imho, he isn't the greatest player that I will ever see play. Second, he's not at his best anymore. He's not quite Michael Jordan playing for the Wizards, but he's dropped quite a bit in the last four years. Third, he's a prick. You may be able to get past that, but I can't. I don't want to see a prick do well. I don't root for Latrell Sprewell. I didn't for John Rocker. You don't have to be feeding the homeless or saving kittens every day, but don't be a prick.

Simply being cold or unapproachable by the media and/or his teammates and fans (allegedly) does not put someone on the level of John Rocker, Latrell Spreewell, Ty Cobb, Ron Artest, etc.

Dislike him all you want for being an a-hole, but don't compare him to violent thugs or open racists.

He will be 43 years old in a few months, most players his age have been retired for atleast 5 years.

Looking back historically, it's astounding what he's doing at his age.
Bear in mind he also missed the entire 2005 season (minus a dozen games or so) with knee injuries.
To come back at all from that at age 40 is an amazing feat, let alone be a productive ball player.

If anyone expects (not that you necessarily do) him to produce at a level near his prime at age 43 is extremely foolish at best.
