Manuel has done it many times, and Burrell's spot has often come up again in key situations. Apparently the upgrade to guys like Roberson and Bourn in left make it worthwhile for ole Charlie.

Obviously, it is extremely stupid.

I've never seen a manager pinch run so much

Part of me wants them to start bad enough that he will get fired faster. It is situations like that in which he costs Phillies games. I honestly think he does it to prove to people that he knows how to make double switches and stuff, because when he first came to the NL he didnt. So now he overmanages like crazy.

i can see it maybe if Burrell's struggling or it's the 8th inning, but hell, he's 2-4 in the 6th.

also, i'm pissed b/c i've got Burrell in my H2H league and i need to pick up some RBI's

Watched the game with .Alex., and we were both going nuts when he brought in Bourne in the 6th inning. And sure enough, Bourne ends up batting in a key spot in the 7th inning, and has an absolutely horrific AB.

Manuel is downright awful.

Alfonseca looks good. The new guy we just got who pitched the 7th had some nice stuff. Blew three straight cut fastballs by Berkman, the first was a mistake over the plate but the second and especially third pitches were good. Potential set-up man after Alfonseca takes over the closing role because Flash looks awful.

Alfonseca hasn't been good in a while, so I'm not ready to give him the closer spot yet. But relievers can be fairly random, so I wouldn't be surprised if he had a good year.

Lidge is finished.

Kind of strange how you say this when he pitches two scoreless outings in as many days.

Kind of strange how you don't say [censored] until your team starts inching closer to a .500 record too.

Ridiculous and irrelevant post. Firstly, what's that got to do with anything? I don't "keep quiet" if my team is doing poorly. Secondly, records mean absolutely nothing in April. Or May for that matter. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

And the Stros lost to Philly yesterday, so they are actually farther from .500 than they were before. So WTF are you babbling about?

I just find it strange that someone would crack on Lidge and say he's finished right after he has two good outings in a row. His slider had a break that it hasn't had in awhile and he's looked pretty good. It's a start.
