Re-learning how to play Police tunes on guitar and bass. I'm preparing for a one-time Police jam session this Saturday afternoon.

BJJ: been training for about nine months now, working toward my blue belt.

Surfing: began last year, will start up again in about a month when it warms up a little.

Golf: started practicing again after burning out on it last year. Was down to a 4 hcp, now probably back up to 10 or so.

My fiance and I are learning American Sign Language. It's pretty fun; we use it mostly for mocking people in restaurants without them knowing, but periodically we get to use it to talk to deaf people (and they're always REALLY psyched that we learned it).

The problem is that I've always learned languages through audio books in the car. You'd be surprised how hard it is to find an audio book for sign language...

Oh, I'm also obsessing over cooking. It seems that I always have one hobby that I power-game nonstop, and then I switch to the next hobby without looking back. The last one was poker; I read tons of books, played all the time, thought about it constantly. Now I don't play at all.

I cook almost every day, though. I'm reading 'Kitchen Confidential' and 'I'm Just Here For The Food' and 'On Food & Cooking'. I have a page marked in 'The Professional Chef', but I just couldn't handle 4 cooking books at once. I've heard good things about Shirley Corriher's book, 'Cookwise', so it's probably next. We save money by eating in so much more often, but cooking fancy pieces of meat is a way more expensive hobby than poker (which cost negative money). Hopefully I'll follow guids's lead and take-up counterfeiting next.

Trying to learn Spanish. I bought Rosetta Stone so we'll see how well that goes.

I would love to read what you think about this product. I suck at languages but feel a void being mostly monolingual (can speak/read some Thai from my time there). Curious how good Rosetta Stone stuff is.

I've played guitar for nearly 20 yrs and have been working on some things I hadn't been so proficient at. Mainly I've been focusing on old fingerstyle picking country blues/ blues and 'hillbilly' music. It's fun and challenging(some of those guys were damn good players), luckily I've found and have been playing alot with a guy who is really good and thats sped up my progress a bunch.

Freaky. I was just about to post this. I haven't played in a long time, but I was interested in playing old blues and early rock with a finger picking approach.

I was just listening to that on my commute this morning. His Driven To Tears live solo is even better.
