[ QUOTE ] WarDekar = Jamie Gold? [/ QUOTE ] Haha, I only wish... I just don't understand why Jamie gets as much flack as he does as a player. I guess just because he's the most recent to win it, but shouldn't Varkoni and Moneymaker get just as much flack? I can't remember the events exactly, but I seem to recall MM and Varkoni getting a lot more lucky in crucial spots than Jamie did. I can understand that people hate Gold because of his attitude, but jeeze, at least give the guy SOME credit. [/ QUOTE ] People who don't like moneymaker are idiots IMO. Jamie Gold is a huge douchebag. WTF has varkoni ever done wrong, I don't understand how you can possibly dislike him... thats like worse than disliking Victor Ramdin. |

[ QUOTE ] Ugh, for the billionth time--poker is a game that combines both luck and skill. Therefore amateur players--those whom you call "frauds" or others call "jokes" or "donks"--have an established chance of winning. That deprives you of the right to call people who play poker and win big events "frauds"--because it's all part of the game. It's also ridiculous to try to assert that Varkonyi is more of a "fruad" than Gold--any amateur who wins a poker tournament got lucky, did some things right, some things wrong, and played poker. In other words, if it's a fraud when they win, IT'S ALL A FRAUD. Stop saying stupid [censored], thanks. [/ QUOTE ] Obviously, but I wasn't the one that started that. Someone else said Jamie Gold was an idiot, I countered with calling Varkoni a bigger fraud than Jamie. I see no difference between that and calling Varkoni a fraud. [/ QUOTE ] Gold noticeably comes off as "idiot" (or "jerk," "douchebag"--take your pick) whereas the term "fraud" bears no relation to Robert V. |

For the last time I have nothing against Varkoni.
Clearly Jamie Gold is a douchebag. Clearly Varkoni seems like a nice guy. Neither of those things have anything to do with the fact that I think Jamie is a better player than Varkoni. Therefore, Varkoni is a bigger "fraud" of a poker player than Gold. I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand. |

[/ QUOTE ] Fine, I guess fraud may have been a bad choice of a word. Varkoni doesn't pretend to be a professional poker player, so I suppose he can't be a fraud of a poker player. Anyway where was this thread before we got derailed? Actually I think it got derailed on post #5 so I guess we're lost now. |

Look fraud up in the dictionary, cause what you are saying is ridiculous wardekar.
ppl give jamie gold [censored] because not only does he suck, but he talks a lot of [censored] (acts like an [censored]), oh and because he is cheating his backer out of like 6 million dollars. Varkonyi overall seems like a real nice guy who got really lucky. Good for him and his family. Moneymaker also seemed really nice from when I met him, and was actually by far the coolest big name pro i have met id say. |

I corrected myself and said fraud was a bad choice of a word. I should've said, "Varkoni was a worse player than Gold so I'm not sure why Gold gets called an idiot and Varkoni doesn't"
Sorry. And yes he does seem like a very nice guy, as does Moneymaker. From the pros I've met I think Hachem seems pretty cool, met him at WSOP 6-handed event last year (he was runner up) and PCA this year and seemed pretty down to earth. As for Gold, that wasn't his backer, and I doubt you've read the entire story. I'm not sure what the MOST recent update is, but it basically boiled down to the other dude (NOT a backer) didn't want to pay ANY income tax on it since he was not a US citizen. Well unfortunately for him, that's not how it works, and if Gold were to just hand that dude $6mil Gold would make next to nothing (if anything) from his score considering he'd have paid taxes on the entire $12mil. Other dude needs to realize he has to either take half after taxes, or pay the damn taxes on it like he's supposed to in a split-prize situation, otherwise Gold gets screwed over. And as much as the poker world would love to see that, he at least KIND of deserves the money. |

[ QUOTE ] results are often a terrible way to judge the best posters as a lot of very successful players have a shockingly poor understanding of poker [/ QUOTE ] Subtle bash at me? [/ QUOTE ] Definitely not.You play very very well from what I saw in that second chance in vegas and all your posts I remember reading have been very good. Like ansky said, I was referring to people like Jamie Gold, etc. Steve |
