El D:
Please add me to the list of those who would like to start threads. I hope this gets us back to the days of the original "Other Topics" forum which was lively and intelligent without being juvenile. There are a lot of great posters from that era that I would love to see involved again. KJS |

Alobar,
While I think cussing can be an art form (like the Dad in A Christmas Story), can't you also say we're mature enough to post without those words? Madtown, If you start posting again please continue your Lost critique. That was great. |

"can't you also say we're mature enough to post without those words?"
I'm not sure how profanity and maturity get linked. Often times "[censored]" is just the best word for the situation. It's not really an issue of maturity as it is an issue of relative morality and standards. Yours, apparently, are more conservative than Alobar's (or mine). Couching it in terms of maturity just feels like twisting the argument to give you the high ground, and I find it really distasteful (I realize this is likely not your intent, but to me it's the root of the argument you put forth). |

All,
one thing to remember. the best way to get on the start threads list is by simply making quality replies to existing threads within the forum. that being said, a lot of quality posters were left off the initial list and I hope no one takes offense to not being included, it was most likely an over site. |

This forum is an awesome idea, looking forward to its development.
And now, a hypothetical situation on obtaining "Thread starter status." If I were to, say, kill one of the 100 named starters, do I then gain starter status? Sort of like Afro Samurai, only #2 can fight #1, but anyone can challenge #2. |

El D,
I have three posts I'll be making eventually: 1.) Long-term effects of bad parenting 2.) The histoy of HBO original programming 3.) 'X short movie reviews' (where X is currently 14, but will be closer to 40 by the time I post it). I don't really start a lot of threads, but when I do they are well put together. Can I get on the list? |

El D,
I have an article that I would like to post that will hopefully create a decent discussion. It went relativly unknown in OOT although was complimented by those that bothered to read it. -Evan |

Dids,
Good point. Poor choice of words on my part. Or rather poor argument. I'm a big proponent of [censored] and [censored], and like to think I use them appropriately. My chief concern is the unnecessary use of said words, which I think the forums would like to avoid. While I know this forum will be more tightly regulated, I think it becomes a slippery slope if you start exiling people on grounds of "poor use of the word [censored]." More importantly, when addressing [censored], I'll have to start actually typing [ c e n s o r e d ] out instead of one of the 3 letter word options |
