I just wonder how many of these Patriots fans were fans in 2000? I never saw this many before. [/ QUOTE ] welcome to the world of sports. That's the way the business works, and commenting on it like it's some insightful observation is really just a tired old cliche. fwiw, I don't consider myself a huge patriots fan simply because football is my least favorite of the three majors, but I'm enjoying the success. I'll likely pay less attention to them when the belichick / brady era is over. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] god patriot fans are douchebags [/ QUOTE ] He's right. We are. Now we know how the Yankees fans felt all those years. I know that it's a lot more fun this way. [/ QUOTE ] My dad was telling me something about this yesterday when we went to lunch. He went to the Titans games here in Nashville when the Pats came to town and almost got in a fight. The Pats fans were a father and a son watching the game with their mom/wife saying things along the lines of suck our red, white and blue [censored] ect in front of the mother/wife and an older couple and my dad and his friends he was with. My dad finally had heard enough and confronted them and the mom/wife settled things down from what my dad told me. So after seeing some of the things in this thread, what I heard from my dad and how the Pats handled themselves in SD, I think everyone from NE are douche bags. I hope Indy stomps them this weekend and I dont like the Colts either. [/ QUOTE ] lol I'm always amazed with the awesome logic in your posts. Yeah, only New England has morons who say stupid [censored]. blah blah blah. |

X, I went to Nashville for that game with 5 other Pats fans. In fact I think you gave me some trip suggestions in advance so thanks. Our seats were split up so we were in three different sections of the stadium. All of us came out of it saying how pleasant everyone was and how there were no issues even though there were all sorts of fights on the field.
I hate it when an entire fan base is stereotyped based on the actions of a person or two. It's like LT calling the Pats classless because Ellis Hobbs is a punk. By the way, Ellis was one of the guys Bullock wanted a piece of in Nashville that day too. He's clearly pissing some people off. I'm not going to defend his actions, but it shouldn't reflect poorly on the rest of the team. The original douchebag comment was directed at me, and that's fine, but I was obviously just taking a good natured shot back at someone that said Tagliabue and the refs allowed NE to win in the first place. As for the bandwagon fans, I hate them too, but there's nothing you can do about them. That's just human nature. I've had season tickets to the Pats for 13 years and was a fan long before that. Trust me when I say that those of us that are long-time Pats fans understand how good we have it now and are appreciating every minute of it. I also understand why you all want the Pats to lose. It's the way I've felt about the Yankees my whole life. Anyway, good luck to the Colts and their fans this weekend, should be a hell of a game. |

I think its silly to complain about a successful teams fans. It boils down to sour grapes that your team isn't winning.

I think people toss around the bandwagon fans thing too much. To me, there are two types of "bandwagon" fans. I really have no problem with people who get wrapped up in the excitement of an excelling sports team. Not everyone is as diehard a sports fans as some of us. So when I saw a few more Sox hats than normal in '03 and '04, I thought it was cool. People like winners. Ultimately, people like being entertained, and those were entertaining times. So cheers to them and their short-lived fandom.
It's only when those bandwagoners represent like they've been fans forever, that they're as knowledgeable as the diehards, and are generally in your face about how awesome their team is... then it really sucks. I think most probably agree with me here, but there are some people who get there panties in a knot about ANY new fans. Like when I was at the Sox championship parade and a guy was getting all loud about how no one knew who Jody Reed. Who gives a crap? |

Kyro,
When I went to Detroit years ago on Thanksgiving to watch them play KC, they had moron fans there too. KC has moron fans, everyone does. Just some teams are worse than others. I have heard Eagles fans are horrible. I might be sounding the way I am because I dont like the Pats for the simple reason they have so many bandwagon fans and maybe in my heart I know they are doing better than my Chiefs. I'm sorry if I have rubbed you the wrong way or if you took my reply the wrong way. Chev, I'm glad you had a blast down here in Nashville. Where all did you go to? I wish we could have had a drink or something while you were down. |

KBZ, For the record how long have you been a Pats fan? I have been a Chiefs fan for 24 year now. X [/ QUOTE ] well I'm 31. my earlier memory of rooting for the Pats is during the mid 80's (just before the 1985 SB). there have been some really really really lean years in the Pats history. for those that think it's a luckbox franchise, this team basically had no luck from it's founding right up until...the 6th round of the 2000 draft. |
