im also kinda disappointed with the new program... i guess its not worse for me but its not significantly better either... i was really hoping for tiers at 250k, 500k, etc. oh well.

i really doubt there are more than a dozen people who hit 1mil vpp in 2006 and i dont think this program is going to increase that number all that much. i think it would be a lot more effective for stars if they gave high (but not insane) volume players a 250k or 500k target to aim for instead.

People keep saying, "I wish they would give me something at 500k."

You do realize that you get $11.2k, right?
(this is on top of the 1.5 million + FPP's you would have also).

Now if you want to argue that after playing THAT much you deserve MORE than $11.2k then go right ahead.

But I'm kind of confused by all the posters saying you don't get ANYTHING for reaching 500k hands.

People keep saying they don't think many people got 1 million vpp's this year.

I'm not sure ANYONE got 1 million vpp's this year. I've been asking around a lot of people I know who play EXCLUSIVELY on Stars and tons of hands. Especially a lot of SNG guys. Nobody has even come close.

So far my highest amount is 580K by RainKhan. I would imagine ElKy has more than him, but I don't know that he got to a million either.,

Who got the Porsche and how many did he get this year.

Elky got to SN by Jan 20 or so I think.

I really don't know how many (if any) got to 1-million this year.

But the idea that it won't encourage high-volume players to increase their play is ridiculous. They will just play the same that they normally would anyway? What?

We have several 200k types on here who say they are going to try to do it.

I'm going to see how it goes for the first 20 days of January.
I give myself about a 5% chance of actually sticking with it all year and successfully making it.

I'm not trying to challenge peoples intentions at all, since I play an [censored] load of hands. But 1 million vpp's is an absolutely insane number.

I don't think it would even be possible for anyone who plays MTT's..period. The only people who could obtain 1 million would be a 2-4 or 3-6nl multi tabler, a guy who 6+ tables 5/10LHE+, or a guy who 16 tables SNG's or something. No big vacations, no weeks off, nothing.

I kind of agree with you.

That's why I think I will have very little chance.

I have a 2 week vacation at the end of January. Will be out of the country, probably very little internet.

Will have to be WAY ahead of pace before I leave or else I'm Audi-5000.

Where are all these big RB %'s coming from, 30%+? I play 3/6 nl (6max). I'm a supernova and earn <23% RB (FPPs valued as 1.6C).

Needless to say, I feel that is terrible.

Remember that VPP earn for cash players got bumped up significantly at the end of the year.

You do have to be the "consistent grinder" type of person to hit it, but it's not that ridiculous. I earned > 300,000 VPPs (not FPPs) in the last 2 1/2 months of the year taking a bunch of days off, and only playing 9 SNGs at a time max (and playing on Full Tilt as well as Poker Stars). If you play Turbo SNGs at $114+ (and I'd imagine other games) it's definitely doable, you just have to play toward the higher end of the spectrum in stakes, probably play 8 tables (or more), and play pokerlike a normal job (2,000 hours/year, although I bet some people will hit SNE in a number of hours much less than that). I'd also guess there will be ~ a dozen players who hit 1 million VPPs in time to get the free WCOOP entry - whether one has the personality to grind out the hours without going insane (whether that trait is bad or good) is another issue...

...it's a lot better than being a lawyer and having your bonuses start kicking in around 1,900 or 2,000 hours billed (more like 2,500 hours worked)...
