I own an Ebay Consignment shop that does millions in sales for a nice nut of the total sale. Ask me anything about selling, buying, owning a business etc.

My company which features myself, my wife, and one part time shipper generates around 120k a month profit after wages, expense, ebay fees etc...we pay the shipper 8 bucks an hour and wife and I take 1,000-3500 a week depending on what we need etc.

I'm very interested in ecommerce as a whole, and would love to chat with you sometime.
The obvious question everyone wants to know is - what do you buy&sell? Some more interesting questions I'd like to know: - strategies on getting the best price (good times to bid, bad times to bid, days to avoid, etc) - optimizing shipping cost to get the most bids - general page layouts/copy that seem to work - which merchant account do you use to accept payment? |

Why dont you take bigger salaries from the company, i.e. what type of working capital do you need to re-invest? 2. Why dont you hire more people? 3. How is what you do different than the "I sold it on EBAY" stores? |

I drive a nice car as does the wife and we have every toy we want etc. I dont take a bigger salary as I dont really need it, and being a LLC I can take a big check at the end of every year without the tax worries of a S.P. As far as why not hire more, were trying weve been through 8 people and none worked out. And what I do is 75% the same as I sold it except that I personally am there for every customer, I personally sell every item for them, I am not a franchise, and our customer service is 10x what theirs is. I sold it can take 5 months to pay you, I pay checks that I personally write every 2 weeks. I also look up and do research for any item I do not know a lot about. The research end something they never do, can be difference if 100s if not 1000s of dollars. I have 9+ years experience selling, most of the franchise stores have only been open 2 years or less and employ 16 year old listers...were the same yet very different. |

Generally my no pay % is around 7% of the items I sell, which can be tough, and hopefully Ebay will improve this, id love to see them qualify buyers but that will never happen. As for scams best one we see is about 100 phishing for our password emails a week.

What edge or core compentency do you have that let's you make a profit or prevents anyone from selling the exact things for the exact price that you sell? Do you just have a lock on the supply/manufacture of your product?
How about a link to your ad on ebay? |
