Jefferson, definitely. But I don't share your optimism about Green. 10 points and 2.5 rebounds in 20 minutes isn't anything special.

Is there any reason at all to believe this team might actually be good sometime in the next 5 years or so?

[/ QUOTE ]

Just look at how good they've been when Scalabrine isn't available. He's currently averaging 4 points and 2 rebounds in 20 minutes. That's incredibly bad. That's about what Bruce Bowen does offensively. And Scalabrine can't make that up in defense. My personal favorite Scal game was this one. 38 minutes, 0 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 fouls in a game where the Celts lose by 2. Pierce + Jefferson + draft - Scalabrine is enough to get this team into the playoffs.

This is my longterm Celtics rotation

Rondo-West-Pierce-2007 pick-Jefferson

Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Tony Allen, and Kendrick Perkins coming off the bench.

Allan Ray and Leon Powe are the reserves.

If that 2007 pick is Durant or Oden, we have the makings of a very, very good team.

Imagine:

1 - Rajon Rondo
2 - Gerald Green
3 - Paul Pierce
4 - Al Jefferson
5 - Greg Oden

pierce to /finally/ shut it down?

Due to miscellaneous problems, Paul Pierce said that he has thought about shutting down his season.
"I think about it," he said. "I think about it definitely with the way my body’s been feeling since I’ve been back. I mean, it’s crossed my mind, especially with these remaining games and whether I should just take the rest and come back strong next season. The foot’s been OK, but I think I’ve hurt other parts of my body because of it." Celtics coach Doc Rivers, however, said that Pierce isn't hurting himself and should be able to finish out the season. Keep him active for now, but keep an eye on this situation.
