This will be pretty uncomfortable. He even has the option of establishing the Maroczy Bind at some point with e4, making it near impossible for us to ever play d5. We need to strike back on the light squares immediately, with either d5 or c6. I prefer the preparatory move c6, which also scores best in this database.

my normal, bad chess playing self would do d6 [/ QUOTE ] Yes, that is bad [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] That would just hem in our dark squared bishop, waste a move (there's no point letting out our light squared bishop since it's currently pinned to the defense of the b7 pawn) and cede total control of the h1-a8 diagonal to White. The battleground right now is the central light squares. Nothing else is hugely important right at the moment.
