i really have no sympathy for you or any other idiot who voted for republicans. the writing has been on the wall for years. it finally caught up with something important to YOU.

[/ QUOTE ]

yah I agree. You happily voted repub while gay people across the country were having thier right to marriage revoked. You kept putting the balots in the box supporting repubs as women where denied the right to have abortions. But now that you cant play online poker, now youre upset.

Whats even funnier is the fact that you made it clear that you wont be voting for a democrat. You are so stuborn, and probably embarassed at the thought of being labeled a liberal or a democrat, that youd rather just not vote as opposed to actively fighting for your freedoms.

So Democrats are the party of freedom all the sudden? They'll make online poker legal again and then tax it 75% or something, so freedom to do everything but keep the money I earn apparently.

Both parties just want power and control, their motives and issues are different but ultimately they think "they know best"

[censored]. Democrats voted for HR 4411 by a 3-2 margin. It's almost certain that this bill passes no matter who's in power, but the poker boom has happened while the GOP has exclusively held both houses of Congress and the White House.

[/ QUOTE ]Voting for something is vastly different than writing it, putting it through committee, and bringing it up for a vote. No Democrat-controlled committee would put a bill up for a vote that would split their own party down the middle. You don't divide your own team like that without losing the chairmanship you spent decades to get.

You saw all those Democrats on the floor vehemently opposed to this. Again I ask why was there not a SINGLE Republican? Do not pretend the two parties are equal in this.

Even with the Republicans united and having a 55-45 majority this had trouble getting through the Senate. This would NOT have passed if the Democrats were in control. They would not split their own Party in half without a very very very good reason.

Further, to avoid another bill to fix any loopholes, and to also maybe avoid strict enforcement, I argue that a future Democratic Senate/House is in your best interest.

From what I understand, the Democrats were trying to attach bills to this defense bill as well. Stuff like protecting our rail stations. You know, things that are at least related to it. These were shot down, but Frist's online gambling bill was allowed to be tacked on? WTF

I dont blame people for voting for the bill, I blame them for allowing the anti-gambling bill to be attached, whilst denying bills that are actually related to the original.

Y'know - I agree with this, I voted republican in the past. The difference is that when I saw what the republican party was turning into, I could see it was a mistake and I started voting for the other guy.
I knew that a party that tries to restrict fundamental rights is not going to be good for anyone in the long run, no matter how much they cut taxes. And since Bush's tax cuts came with a war in Iraq financed on a Bank of China credit card, and the biggest expansion of government since FDR - I wonder how those of you who voted are gonna like it when the bill comes due.
If you think a poker ban is bad, wait til your house drops 50% in value and your mortgage payments continue to rise.
