Hey kettle... you're black.

actually... i don't talk about women the way you all do and it makes me cringe a little bit.

guys like to make assumptions about the way girls talk with each other about guys... there are some girls that are just as harsh, but it is in no way the majority. girls certainly don't have things like commonly accepted "rating" scales, and it isn't an accepted reality amongst women that one needs to receive a certain rating on this scale to be eligible, regardless of things like personality or intelligence.

i certainly make judgments about the appearance of all people, men, and women... but i don't talk about it in anything like the same way that men do, neither do most of my female friends. it is a completely different dynamic (and i know, because often when i'm in a group of guys, i'm "one of the guys" and i hear a lot of the stuff they say)

[/ QUOTE ]

I dont know if its your social situation, your sexual preference, the girls that are your friends etc, but this is the opposite of everything Ive encountered. Some of my best friends are single, late 20 something girls, and they are all just as harsh if not harsher than my guy friends. My guy friends, I happen to hang out with more, so I hear it more from them, but in my experience, girls are just as horny, just as judgemental, and just as shallow as guys. You need to stop making this an issue of sex (m v f) and come up with something else to gripe about.

guids,

I feel the same way as you. My female friends do it, my girlfriend and I do it, my female coworkers do it. The things I've heard come out of some of these chicks' mouths never cease to amaze me.

This is about finding some sort of moral high ground that just doesn't exist.

No, no, I do think there is a moral highground. somebody, somewhere, doesnt base their initial attraction/reaction on looks and the sexuality they exude. Im sure there is someone, somewhere that does this, but I doubt ill ever meet them.

I would agree that, from what I've seen, women are less superficial than men when considering eligibility (though it gets closer the older men get).

However, if the idea you are getting from these message boards, is that the same superficial judgments passed on women (again, based soley on their pic) on these boards, is similar to judgments passed in real life... I would bet you are way off.

Um, have you ever met peachy? Seriously, you couldn't be more wrong on this point. She was far more critical than any guy in OOT.

Also, yes women do have scales. It's called the "trust fund" scale. With other women it's "who has the cocaine or weed" scale. With other women it's "who is the best athlete" scale. Women have scales that are often just as selfish and shallow as men, they are just far better at hiding it. Men normally don't care about hiding stuff like that. Why don't we care? Because we are *often* careless a$$holes looking for a tight pink hole to poke. Shady and scandalous money suckers is *often* left for bitches. I'm just glad things seem to change as people get older/wiser.

Please be aware that I am not saying you are even remotely related to the people you are hating on (male or female).

That being said I have no beef with you. I think you need a wake up call but I totally agree with you when you say certain people pretty much blow. But hey, we are in a no holds barred fight for the right to procreate with the best genetic specimen. That's life, get used to it.

Most things have already been said here. When we talk about womens looks we're indicating whether we do or do not want to have sex with them, it's not done with malice. I do want to point out something new though.

fslexduck,

You wonder why we didn't criticize/rate guys when they posted their fat pics. The reason is because we simply don't care. It's not some weird code to protect each other and tea down women. With rare exception, how a guy looks is of no consequence to us for reasons that should be obvious.

I feel like you percieve this overriding malice towards women/protection of men and therein lies the problem for you. In reality the reasons for the behavior you see are almost all pragmatic/practical. Granted, it's true that rarely someone will just gratiutously degrade women for no real purpose but they undoubtedly have their own issues don't you think?

You know what the real problem is? Its that there are too many fat women in this world. We should round them up and put them on a fat farm. The farm isn't for them to lose weight because that would allow them to procreate and create fat little babies. The farm will be a "Hunt the fatty" farm and people can buy tickets to shoot fat chicks. That way only skinny chick genes will be left over. The fat chicks will die for a good cause. Their lives won't be wasted, they can be turned into bars of soap. That way we can save the real "whales".

You're right. I used a "will be a good husband and father" scale and the "genius IQ - will 'get me'" scale as well as the "funny as hell" scale.
