I 3 bet (which I think is probably wrong and as soon as I did it I didn't really like it), he folded.

I really like the way the both of you played it, especially you fast on the flop and stox's river raise. You're probably right about the river 3 bet because he only calls or re-raises if your beat. Nice post.

I think Stox should raise the turn if he thinks his hand is still the best. What if a 7 or Q or something comes off on the river and now all Stox can do is call.

And yeah, considering Stox folded the hand that is right the step below BK's, that means calling is the play.

Maybe.

But only if the minimum hand he'll raise the river with is the hand 'right the step below'. Just because he had the hand 1 step below, doesn't mean thats the min hand he'll raise with here. also you need to factor in worse hands he'll raise with AND call the 3bet. What if the river was an offsuit 5? I think Stox still raises, BK still 3bets, but now Stox calls...

If he folds AJ here, there is no worse hand that he raises with and calls a 3bet.

Someone mind explaining the merits of not raising the turn? I'm able to come up with a few reasons, but none of them are that good.

That's true, lots of bad cards can come off. The reason I like the river raise better is the fold is safer to a 3 bet. You'd have to call it on the turn. If you fold river UI it's the same 3 bets but I like the line of waiting for the river with big hands that may be beat on a co-ordinated board.

Schneids - It's not just will he call with a worse hand, will he fold a better one (2h3h) there? It's not that useful because you aren't going to bluff with a straight ever, but it's good to be complete.
