I doubt this kid was in bad shape. He probably just loves the game, is an average joe, doesn't play seriously, gets an opportunity to get staked at a much higher limit, and ends up getting most of next year's salary up front!

It's amazing that luckyjimm considers the hypothetical nature of the deal, and the suddenness of the score, factors that make giving it back harder. When in fact making good on a highly public, one-off deal, when you're in high spirits, is very simple, on the spectrum of staking situations. So often, when you're staked, it's because you're in pretty bad shape, and when it comes time to square up you're still usually in pretty bad shape, and often there's all sorts of ways to skim a little or do things that are technically within the bounds of the stake but just grossly bad for the staker.

So, even "just musing" that this of all stakes would make you go bad on a deal might get you honesty points, but also means that the poker world is a completely terrible place for you. Though, "being in the poker world" and "copy/pasting hands in NVG" are two different things, so maybe he's in the right spot.

sites should have a built in feature that goes along with transfers and it just automatically processes it and pays out the deal.

Yeah I wish they had such a feature. I staked a guy once in $11 dollar tourney, punk won it and got like 2k and shipped me back $11.01 for a sweet .01 profit, instead of 1k, I was on life tilt for like a month after that.
