I'm just saying.. Definitely custom title worthy. Congrats to OP for successful staking arrangement. More props to hojo though for not defaulting.

It's just too perfect for my liking. |

Was just hanging in #hsmtt on Sunday and JayPez was putting some dudes into the $11 100k. I was like i'll one up this dude and put a loada peeps into a $55 that was about to start. One of the guys had like a pretty solid record at the $2 multis on full tilt so I asked if he wanted to play the Sunday million. We struck a 70/30 deal and it was set. [/ QUOTE ] First off, congrats to Rupert and Hojo. Y'all both deserve it. I'm a little confused, you bought Hojo into the Million for $215, not the $55 mtt, right? If so, his 2nd place finish is even more impressive than I initially realized. And I can't help but comment on Lucky Jimm, even tho I think all the drama takes away from the overall awesomeness of the event. So many players would act just the way Jimm would, and that's why we're all so proud of Hojo and Rupert. Jimm, I give you props for posting a honest opinion of what you might do. Of course, not honoring an agreement is dishonest. You're a forthright poster, and I think it should be obvious to any player who's read your posts that self control isn't your strong suit. Just my theory, but I'd like to imagine part of the key to Hojo's success comes from being a person of moral fortitude. |

It's amazing that luckyjimm considers the hypothetical nature of the deal, and the suddenness of the score, factors that make giving it back harder. When in fact making good on a highly public, one-off deal, when you're in high spirits, is very simple, on the spectrum of staking situations. So often, when you're staked, it's because you're in pretty bad shape, and when it comes time to square up you're still usually in pretty bad shape, and often there's all sorts of ways to skim a little or do things that are technically within the bounds of the stake but just grossly bad for the staker.
So, even "just musing" that this of all stakes would make you go bad on a deal might get you honesty points, but also means that the poker world is a completely terrible place for you. Though, "being in the poker world" and "copy/pasting hands in NVG" are two different things, so maybe he's in the right spot. --Nate |
