If this is a rule then whoever invented it should be kicked in the nuts. Hey, I don't like that guy in seat 7, I'm gonna throw my cards at his and kill his hand. WTF?

[/ QUOTE ]

the only thing i can think of is to prevent some sort of retarded colusion(e.g. bum1 throws A2o into bum2's A3o, now bum2 has AA and bum1 mucked 32).

I use a nugget of iron pyrite that I found while 'prospecting' at a tourist trap with my kids in Virginia. It makes for an interesting conversation piece.

Have you ever heard the rule "it's up to the player to protect their hand"? It is true, a player may decide he doesn't like you & intentionally throw his cards into yours, mucking your hand!! Sometimes, unintentionally, a mucked hand might slide into your cards. So, if you like your hand, protect it. It's easy, all part of the game. As a dealer, I try to watch for players "aiming" at other cards but dealers can't always block them. So, players, do your job, protect your hand & avoid this.

Maybe it's just me, but I rarely use a chip or any object to protect my cards. I hold my cards in my hand.

I thought most card rooms don't let you do this? How do the other players know you're in the hand if your cards aren't on the table in front of you?

I use it when in seat 1 or 10. have seen dealers muck cards from these seats many times from players who did not have some sort of protector on them...

Maybe the Foxwoods dealer who posts here can jump in on this, but I've never heard of the rule that if a player throws his cards away and they land on your's that your hand is dead. If this is a rule then whoever invented it should be kicked in the nuts. Hey, I don't like that guy in seat 7, I'm gonna throw my cards at his and kill his hand. WTF?

It's 100% circumstantial but it may be more true than you think.

If a player throws their cards in and they hit another players cards a lot of the time it is very, very obvious whose cards were whos, protected or not. I've never had an issue where I pulled the mucked cards out. It's a common sense thing.

True story:
75-150 stud, river, big pot.

8 seat is a gamble junky who tilts easily and donates hugely to the game. He realizes he is beat and throws his hand in to the muck. Wait, nope, he throws it over the muck, and directly in to the one seat's live hand, intentionally. 7 down cards + 3 down cards = dead hand = tilting player = other guy gets pot without even showing = 8 seat gets a one year vacation from Foxwoods.

Protect yer hand

Very nice. Now if you can just get a hook in its mouth you're all set. Well done!

If that is actual size, I think it might be a wee bit over the top.
