Aba is such a huge fish in these lives games (yeah I know he is up right now, but I will ignore that because he doesn't have as much live experience.) I think a more likely scenario is that he is up because the "pros" (and by pros I mean the guys I know are pros, the ones I see on TV who have played live more often, you are definitely a poker pro if you are on TV regularly like some of these guys) are letting him win. They want him to get up a bit and get confident because he is just some internet hotshot who has lucked into one of the winningest online players ever. They know that their experience with reading is so great he is a monstrous underdog against them. I would go as far as saying they know what he has as he is getting dealt the cards...that is how big of an advantage live experience is.

i think aba is great online but playing against these old timers with decades of live experience, aba doesn't have the one skill these old school guys have, the sickass reads that you can only get live, and that's something that's gonna take him years of live exp to acquire. i doubt bobby baldwin plays the same as these young internet guys like aba who are always thinking about ranges only.

The question for Brian Townsend is where he fits in here in this graph. He clearly is playing outside of his Bankroll. I dont care if he has 10 Million liquid dollars. He has lost almost 2 Million dollars the last two days. What will happen when he goes back online playing 200-400 again. Will it be boring for his action. How disciplined is he? These are the questions he needs to answer for himself.

Thats pretty amazing that there were that many people willing to put down the money for 500/1k NL/PLO with a 200 ante. This just makes me more desolate about how many times in stakes I have to move up to even stand out in the poker world. I bet if poker got more popular 100/200 NL would become the popular limit among average millionares and I wouldnt even be bankroll for it lol

These young Internet hotshots who think they're the be all end all of poker just don't have the seasoning to really understand what the poker world is all about.

People like Baldwin have been around for a long, long time. They've seen lots of hotshots come and mostly go over the years, but nobody ever gives them any credit.

Some of these kids just think they know everything there is to know about poker. What with all of their two to five years of experience.

And some of them haven't hit the variance roller coaster on the downhill slope yet either. It can be a long, long ways down to the bottom of that hill.

I would love to see how some of these new superstars would have fared in the old days with Baldwin, Brunson, Moore, Reese, Zee, Zewin, Tomko, Chan, Ferris, Berman, Ungar, Strauss et al. There used to be some mighhty big no limit and pot limit games around. I used to watch these guys push around 200K pots back in the early 80s. What's 200k in 1983 worth in today's dollars?

I give these kids their props though. They made the money, and they've got the balls to step up and play in the biggest with the best. They'd just better be careful. What goes up, usually comes crashing back down.

For those who haven't read it, Bobby Baldwin's book, Winning Poker Secrets is a very good read. This guy's been through eveything these kids are facing now--and then some.

I suppose you haven't read the hundreds of posts about how many leaks these "best players in the world" have in their poker games? like, undeniable penetrating leaks. not to say they arent good players, but I love how losing one pot in the biggest game around constitutes these "cocky" internet pros knowing nothing compared to the older live pros.

"crashing down" is also so ridiculously overstated. the guy lost one post. hes routinely pulled in over a million in each of his live sessions played in vegas...did you post about how good he is or all of the praise he deserved in those threads?
