The movie gets going, you don't know what to expect and the next thing your thinking is 'Wow, what's this?' and you can't wait to see what happens next while you enjoy everybody's performance. This is a good way to describe how I felt about "Brick". [/ QUOTE ] Brick was a damn fine film. Thanks to the OP I might check out this film tonight with the lady. |

[ QUOTE ] It's a 56% on RT, and 52% in the "Cream of the Crop". The reviews I read generally trashed it. [/ QUOTE ] This movie is GOOD and I know movies. There isn't a dull, lagging, moment in it. It's horrifying, mesmerizing, disturbing and 'funny' at varying times. Demi Moore looks fine (boy, is she EVER good enough for me, as if) and gets her own great action scene. William Hurt is absolutely delicious. And it has the incredibly adorable semi-newcomer Danielle Panabaker who is close to replacing Anne Hathaway as my new dream girl. [/ QUOTE ]It was a great movie, but, her action seen was not "awesome." It went from sharp realism, to no sound and trance music with flickering lights, with bullets whizzing by. That seem really hurt some of the realistic aspects of it in my mind. Overall a good film. |

There IS no similar genre and that's one of the great things about this movie. It's fresh. Sure, there are movies with these elements separately but not brought together like this. If I had to list movies that I like because I think they were different from everything else I'd pick movies like 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', 'Brazil', 'Adaptation', 'Memento' and 'Requiem for a Dream' as examples. [/ QUOTE ] Howard, while I'd tend to trust your judgment, Hurt is coming off the worst performance of his career, Demi hasn't done a thing in forever, Dane Cook is unbearable, Panabaker is cute but <<<<<Hathaway, and it's f'crisssweetsakes a freaking COSTNERAMENT! Surely you can't be saying MB is remotely on the level of the five movies you mentioned above....? Not to mention the whole serial killaz is really good guyz deep down impression. The reviews made it sound just like an awful script, forget the casting. That said I can prolly see it for free tomorrow and with cheap beer to boot, but still. Really? |

Howard - my usually reliable Costner sources told me to pass on this one.

Most of the movies I like reviewers/critics hate anyways. I am sure "Anchorman" got 2 thumbs down. It happens all the time. I will hear about a movie getting trashed and I will go in and absolutely love this.
This doesn't happen to anyone else? |
