[ QUOTE ] Well, seems Jeffery Pollack has weighed in about weather or not the the Ladies WSOP event will remain a bracelet event in his blog over here: [/ QUOTE ] I agree w/ Annie Duke about the implications that the women's event has to the women's lib movement. I am also in favor of keeping the event in the WSOP, mainly because people like you (big dummies) just don't get it. Your boyfriend/husband really needs to step in here and tell you how to think properly. [/ QUOTE ] I can think for myself, and I don't need a boyfriend/husband to tell me how to think, thank you very much. Just because I don't agree, doesn't mean I don't get it. I've played in major (mixed) events, cashed in several of them, and have one several of them (including a 10k event when I was living in Cincinnati, Ohio). For me I find the WOEs fun to play in, and I do know of several women who got their start into poker via these very types of events who might not of otherwise entered the poker world. I respect Annie's position, however that said, she should repect ours as well, and not try to take something away that is needed by many others. |

[/ QUOTE ] I don't think anyone should respect you for fundamentaly flawed reasoning. The reason the WSOP has a Women's only event is because they feel it is a GIMMICK to get more revenue, especially from those that may otherwise not play. Dividing playing feilds based on anything other than intelectual ability is problematic. |

I was just on the official WSOP website checking the results of the PLO (Selbst in top 10) and i noticed that in the official advertisement for the ladies only events they use a full ad pic of Annie Duke...

Well, Cindy, you really got them going with this thread. Since I've already posted my views on this twice in the past week, I won't go into detail again except to say that
1. I agree with Annie on this one as you know. If people want to organize women's events and women want to participate, that's fine but there shouldn't be a bracelet event that excludes anyone. 2. How could you possibly think she was serious with the comment about Doyle???? 3. And in Jeffrey's blog he made a very important statement which is wrong - "The beauty of the WSOP is that anyone can enter and anyone can win, and Sally proved that fact again tonight." Not everyone could enter the event that Sally won. Sure it was nice for her but when she shows off her bracelet, do you think she'll say "well, it was just the ladies event". |

Annie Duke, with her views, running a lady's poker school is like the Catholic church running abortion counseling services.

I watched the video.
Several points: 1> She is not saying that there should not be ladies events. She is saying that there should not be a ladies event for a bracelet. 2> She is not saying Doyle Brunson can only win in a "seniors" event. She was being sarcastic. This was very clear. 3> There are christian churches that have abortion counseling services, but they counsel you to not have an abortion! By the way, I am not an Annie Duke fan. She seems smart and is probably a very good player. But there are too many stories that portray her in a bad light, and she seems very conceited. |
