Sorry to interrupt this amazing thread, but my dad and his work friends and myself took a trip to Bandon Dunes last week and we took a daylong stop around Wilhamette Valley and saw Domain Serene, Bergstrom, Beau Frere, the Ponzi wine bar next to a diner we ate at, and another one or two I cant remember. We also saw the flight museum that housed the Spruce Goose.

I got a bottle of the '03 Mark Bradford from Domaine Serene, which is the best Pinot Noir my 20 year old self has ever had. Smoothest Pinot ever made in the history of ever.

If the contingent of awesome trip report writers dont mind, I'll throw some pics of the trip on this thread when I do get them, since they are of Oregon area and such and were just one week later than Clark

(man, how ridiculous would that have been if I ran into veteran 2p2ers in Wilhamette of all places)

the courses are amazing, but unlike a bunch of other major golf resorts the management and the food was pretty iffy, but mainly the management. they goofed up a bunch, and unlike better places like pinehurst where you didnt have to worry about anything, we were kinda confused at bandon which was kinda annoying. things like having to pay a caddy fee and not being told to pay one, getting put onto the wrong course by the front, not having an itenerary, getting the wrong times on a massage, etc.

but the views are just ridiculous, definitely recommend playing. closest you could ever get to playing in ireland. the drive from lincolntown down to bandon is just gorgeous.

bandon has three courses: bandon trails, pacific dunes, bandon dunes

pacific dunes is by far the best course. i have played pebble beach, pinehurst, east lake, atlanta athletic club, and others (spoiled in my youth), and pacific dunes is definitely up there.

(the pictures above is bandon dunes, not pacific)

i would actually have pacific dunes above pebble beach if it werent for the historical significance of pebble.

so, in comparison to other top golf resorts bandon has a long way to go, but you cant miss it.

Best damn trip report ever posted on 2+2, Clarky. My only complaint is that you didn't make it a 12 day trip to include Vancouver, B.C.

Take care, bud.
