oh dont defend him. he got caught for breaking the rules. Sure, it didn't directly effect me, but he still cheated online poker, which i DO play, and i would like to be clean and fair. He used those other names for strategic reasons, which are still unfair. You can't go into the WSOP and wear a mask, so ppl dont know who you are. What he did was bs, and sure it's strategy, but it's still illegal. If someone is using a program that reads other ppl's hole cards, and if someone is using multiple accounts to "trick" others, it's the lesser of two evils. and I don't like that choice. so dont defend him, he cheated, i'm glad he got caught. I love online poker, and if you can't switch gears, then i'm sorry, your not very good at poker. dont cheat me or anyone else. If you wanna be a hustler, go to the streets.

Shane,
Of course, the dinner scenario you describe is an example of why we real poker players never associate with you dumb-ass tourney donkeys. |

I think it is the time to beat the symptoms as much as posible. It will send a much stronger message to the poker sites that if we just say "oh well, he was not for real" and moved on.
And BTW, this is not even close to the El Capitano affair. |

And BTW, this is not even close to the El Capitano affair. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with both points. But although this scandal is of a greater magnitude than the El Capitano incident, it stems from the same seed of corruption, and the fact that we didn't stamp it out then is why we are dealing with it 10-fold now. I hope this analogy is not tasteless, but I liken it to the first bomb that went off in the WTC in 1993. Hardly anyone noticed. JJProdigy was plane #1 and ZJ #2. ZeeJustin and JJProdigy were just unlucky or dumb enough to be the most high profile players around AND to get caught. |

My god my head is going to spin off if more people chime in that shaniac has ever done anything wrong. Seriously people, get a grip.
What we need to focus on here is not directing anger, but we should all just laugh hysterically. Consider the following: 1) A big name just lost $140k last week for playing in multiple tournaments 2) Some guy who plays $500 SnG's, inexplicably keeps a 200 buyin bankroll online while doing the same thing. 3) Said player posts in his blog that he's on a new name and how to find him 4) All tournament reports are recorded in easily accessible places online. I don't know how anyone can be angry at the guy, I still haven't stopped laughing. How could anyone be this dumb? |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] And you are abusing your power by doing what you did. [/ QUOTE ] So labeling a cheater as a cheater is somehow an abuse of power? Yeah OK.... [/ QUOTE ] Ok and how about next he starts labeling bad players as "donkeys". Is that okay too? [/ QUOTE ] I want a donkey label |

[ QUOTE ]
-ZJ's responses have shown arrogance, youth, an attitude that he is above the law, and a severe lack of perspective. [/ QUOTE ] If you recognize this, maybe you also recognize that a lot of ZJ's posts, even before this stuff came to light, are tinged with a "higher thought"-type air. There's a lot of "...I'm surprised no one has yet mentioned..." and "...if you don't acknowledge the stunning truth of my statements, you are illogical..." type verbage. I'm sure he's a smart guy, but no one likes being talked down-to, even if its done unintentionally. [ QUOTE ] I'm guessing he's in a bit of a shock... he put great importance on his image. His 'plan' seemed to be to make himself a name and try to get big sponsorship dollars, and he actually backed it up with effort on his blog. -Many folks whom I respect, including myself, find ZJ to be a good guy at heart who has made a mistake and is compounding it by making himself very hard to defend. [/ QUOTE ] Having said that, I'm with you in-so-much that his responses are ones of an angry, confused, hurt kid. A caught-cheater who knew he was a cheat would be going out of his way to deny or just avoid the boards altogether. I don't think he really set out to screw anyone, just didn't put a lot of thought to where a reasonable ethical boundary was. [ QUOTE ] -Dozens if not hundreds of never-will-bes have crawled out of the woodwork to express their jealousy-fueled happiness that ZJ 'got what he deserved', despite the fact that his actions never affected them in any way and the never-will-bes don't really understand the effects of ZJ's actions. [/ QUOTE ] That's one way of looking at it. Another would be that a lot of people with less talent but better ethics are sore that, even in principle, an already more-talented player would press his advantage even further by doing some shady stuff that the lesser player thought himself/herself a better person for not doing. [ QUOTE ] -There are even a few posts that offer perspective and good advice to ZJ, generally recognizing that he's handling things poorly at the moment. [/ QUOTE ] I hope he gets back on his feet too. He's still young and bright & who knows what good, maybe great, poker & non-poker things he may be lined up to do in the future. |
