So tell me, doesn't that put your right about the right age to join the Marines (not soldiers) and demonstrate your commitment to your ideals?

[/ QUOTE ]

There is no "right" age to join the Mah-rines. Any age is the right age. But thanks to Murray Rothbard I don't believe in war.

Coming from a family of Marines I will probably end up doing my time. Worry about yourself.

Nice dodging of the issue.

I don't have to worry about me....I did my time, and it was combat time, sonny boy.

So nice that you don't believe in war, but are willing to shout support of it to anyone who's within earshot.

They have a number of names for people who take that position.

Need I elaborate?

In my post I displayed no support for any war. You lack reading comprehension.

I will bet anyone $10,000 to the charity of their choice against their $5,000 to a charity of my choice that Riddick does not join the Marines *and complete basic training* within the next three years.

Riddick, did I see somewhere that you were up at Northeastern visiting your buddies this past week or so?

So tell me, doesn't that put your right about the right age to join the Marines (not soldiers) and demonstrate your commitment to your ideals?

[/ QUOTE ]

As discussed a number of times in this forum, one can be supportive of allied military forces without having to join/sign up.

Yes indeed, that is certainly possible.

It is, however, not a simple black & white issue.....there are many shades of gray surrounding it.

In this case, IMO, and I fully acknowledge that it is simply my opinion, Riddick continues to speak out of both sides of his mouth on this issue.

I fully understand the passion of youth, and the belief one has as a young man that he can see things so clearly.

I still keep handy two letters that I wrote home from Vietnam to remind me of this......

One of the first sent in late 1967, and one of the last sent in 1970.

You'd be amazed at the difference a couple of years makes.

I am open minded, do not claim to "know" anything, but can/do argue with vigor.

You translate this into "lacking the courage of my convictions", which says a lot more (less) about you than it does about me, hippie.

So, no WMD

None found. Be specific.
--What do you mean? I mean WMD in Iraq was the justification for the war. Where have you been for the past 3 years? Have you been reading newspapers?

Quote:
Over a $100 or maybe $200 billion blown already,
It doesn't seem like you know what you're talking about.
--I stopped following at $200 billion. Actually, I just checked and it's 400 billion.
http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0221/p01s03-usfp.html

about 2200 soldiers killed
Marines aren't soldiers, but you've already indicated you really don't have much of a clue.
--Does that really make a difference? How bout I just say members of the military.

many more maimed and missing limbs
If you really care, then prove it or else stop disgracing fallen troops by politicizing their suffering
---over 16,500 wounded--http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/12/national/12WOUNDED.html?ex=1297400400&en=476fb31d9ac9e0 1e&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss

who knows how many thousands of Iraqis killed
Again, you have no clue.
--estimates up to 100,000 but for obvious reasons, it's hard to get an accurate count
http://journals.aol.com/bmiller224/O...g/entries/2111

Bin Laden still free
Explain in detail why he is still free, proving you have a clue regarding military search and recon operations (I'll expect you to demonstrate your military expertise and experience, specifically special forces operations that are being employed to hunt down OBL) otherwise STFU
--I don't know why a 6 '4'-6 '5" man in Afghanistan who needs kidney dialysis can hide for 3 years. Maybe there's not enough troops hunting him down. Besides, there shouldn't be any excuses about recon operations.

crappy infrastructure
Huh? What do you even mean by this?
--the average Iraqi doesn't get much electricity. Do I have cite this too?

insurgents having the luxury of taking potshots
Quite the opposite. Our Marine/Recon snipers in Fallujah have the luxury of taking the pot shots. It is more of a final moment for the insurgents.
--Insurgents set off IEDs and sit back and blend back into the population. Time is on their side. The marines patrol and move in the open and unfortunately, are sitting ducks.

every soldier in Iraq is one soldier not in Afghanistan hunting OBL
We would not have 150,000 troops in Afghanistan. There's that "no clue what you're talking about" thing again.
--But couldn't some more of those 150,000 be useful there? It's probably too late now.

Biggest BS ever.
People running their mouths without a clue is the biggest BS ever.
--Seriously, Riddick, do you follow the news? btw, I'm not trying to convince you. I'm actually in awe of what a salesman Bush is.
Besides people with a financial interest (defense contractors) supporting Bush, are the other Bush supporters just retarded?
All of that red space below is "retarded". I suggest you move to Canada.
--you missed my point. Even if every single person had voted for Bush, does that still make the Iraq war worthwhile?
