[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Well my suggestion to keep Taveras in the starting rotation over Wakefield when Lester is ready is looking better and better. [/ QUOTE ] lol. toro, you should be forced to preface every baseball post you make with this quote. [/ QUOTE ] Face reality NT, Tavarez has fewer losses, fewer hits allowed, fewer walks allowed. I mean he's the clear choice. |

As for Papelbon and Okajima, Papelbon is a legitimate ace closer. Okajima will cool off significantly, but is still rather nice. I would hardly worry. |

Oh well.
But I remember a little prediction I made 2 years ago when I said they would make Schilling the closer. When they did, Sublime vowed to never ever question me again. And to those questioning whether Wake can go to the bullpen, he has performed in every conceiveable bullpen role, long man, setup and closer for the Sox. A couple more good outings in a row for Tavares and a couple more bad ones in a row for Wakefield and it could happen. Edit: Oh man, just noticed it. After all these years on these boards and I finally have a subtitle. This has made my day. |

just fyi:
wakefield: 57.1 IP, 3.14 ERA, 32K / 25BB, 5.02 K/9, 1.29 WHIP tavarez : 42.2 IP, 5.27 ERA, 25K / 19BB, 5.20 K/9, 1.47 WHIP man, you're right, tavarez may have pitched fewer innings, giving up more walks and hits per inning, and 2 extra runs per nine innings, but he DOES strike out .18 more guys per 9 innings. |

Great.... Timlin's rehabing. Who goes when he comes back if its Lopez I am gonna be pissed. Hopefully its Pinero or Romero, neither of them are getting any innings and when they do they suck. I don't know if the Red Sox would try to send them down though since they don't have options and Lopez does.

Another gem by the Sox for a win. Youk grinds out a hit, steals 2nd, Drew ties the game with a 2B, Lowell gets him in, Coco makes a 2 run saving diving web-gem, Pedroia gets a heroic HR that makes all the difference as Okey gets the save and Pap gets rest.
Wow, on fire! |
