Yes, it's highly recommended. It also works better for N64 games, IMO, as the button layout is more similar to that controller than the Classic is.

What VC games don't work with a GC controller?

I think the official line is that the GC controller works with most games, but it's dreadful to use for SNES games. They mapped the buttons to the letters rather than the positions, so it ends up clunky as hell. I defy anyone to successfully play Super Mario World using the GC controller. It's nigh impossible. Also, the D-pad is terrible.

It's still a little uncomfortable, but I'm not sure I want to shell out 20 bucks for the VC controller. |

The game gives me instructions on how to do different things, like "press the yellow directional arrow button here", but there are no buttons like that on the controller of course. Looks like I'll be looking into the Wavebird I think. I'm not THAT impressed with the game so far, I don't know if it's aged well. I'll have to give it some more time though. |

* Donkey Kong™ Country (Super NES®, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) * The Legend of Kage (NES®, 1-2 players, 500 Wii Points) * New Adventure Island (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points) * Streets of Rage™ (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points) Wow, I hate you sega for releasing Streets of Rage. Though I suppose it makes sense that they want people to buy the inferior original before they release Streets of Rage 2 at some later date. [/ QUOTE ] is streets of rage 1 still worth buying? it looks pretty cool |

What I would really like to know is if the OoT VC release is the original version or the one that Nintendo later 'updated' for the gamecube, changing some of the music and the blood to green in the final Ganon battle.

It is the "updated" version.
