[ QUOTE ]
My GF loves them and I actually enjoyed their PBS concert. The contraversy in Texas and across the nation is a fascist technique to stifle dissent.

[/ QUOTE ]

You realize how silly this statement is? You are willing to defend the Dixie Twits right to expression by supressing my right to cricize them for their expression. You r dissenet is ok, and mine isn't? That is what you are saying.

They weren't jailed ... there was no governmental censorship ... they were able to continue to say whatever they wanted negatively about Bush and the war, call him all sorts of names, etc. Those of us who disagreed with them expressed our feelings by not buying their albums or going to their concerts and calling them names. Seems to me that this worked out for everyone - a great example of freedom of speech for everyone involved.

The only one I see stifling dissent is you.

Tell me, how brave is George Bush?

Not very.

Tell me, what difference does that make?

NCA, the free market of dissent is perverted when a major military contractor owns a big chunk of the media outlets.

Why do you suppose the media responded by not playing their songs?

1. Being owned by a major military contractor, they were told not the play the music of "those traitors."

2. Because the fans that listen to their station, and are directly related to the advertising revenue, asked the stations not to play their music.

Please don't answer "1."

Sure. Just like all "news viewers" are suddenly demanding wall-to-wall coverage of Anna Nicole Smith's refrigerator, (rather than news on the Iraq War and Bush's impending invasion of Iran).

Yes, clearly this is all just the "free market" at work.

Now, go back to sleep.

None, so it makes about as much sense as the relationship between bravery and a group of country singers.

Well, she has been villified, threatened, and driven off the air for opposing the war. Protecting our soldiers from the neocons is the best way to support the troops, and the chicks have done more, and sacrificed more, than most of us.

What have you done to support the troops?

Since the troops gave up their rights when they signed, it's up to us civilians to get them out of the drink.
