what exactly are ryan beal's duties at 2+2? and as a related question, why was he chosen to do them?

I am asking this out of curiosity, not malice or anything like that. I remember seeing posts from AngryCola a lot back in the day and all of a sudden cola = Ryan Beal and he hardly ever posts anymore, but has some kind of hand in running the forums. also, who is commodus?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'll let ryan explain his duties.

I chose him because when he was moderating, he was constantly sending me pms asking why I made various decisions. It was clear to me that the whole process interested him. He also was always the one to understand me and was able to clarify my positions on matters. The latter made him my obvious choice.

Because you wouldn't help us.

I'd need some specific examples to tell you why they were not implemented.

"monetization refers to the process of deriving revenue from some group of customers that would not otherwise generate revenue for the business. The problem of monetizing a group of web site users is one that many companies failed to solve during the dot-com bust, and folded. These customers are often monetized today by placing advertisements on web sites."

We have ads. We're certainly open to suggestions, but I've always felt that anything we do here should not be invasive to those who built the site. I wouldn't want to send out mass emails, for instance. We don't want to charge a user fee...

1) Who do you turn to for really solid advice concerning running of the forum or a personal dilemna? Is there one person that you feel will always be objective and not self-serving?

2) How does your personality differ from your father's? What is your favorite/ least favorite trait that your father has?

3) In your opinion, should America try to win this war by committing more troops to Iraq?

[/ QUOTE ]

Forum decisions: Ryan.

Personal issues: My girlfriend, usually.

I'm more aware of my surroundings and people than my father. One of the reasons I fail to maintain focus while playing poker is that I find myself feeling bad for those losing. I believe that to truly enjoy poker and many other games, one must not only enjoy winning, but also enjoy seeing others lose.

It's nearly impossible to have a conversation with my father as he is constantly drifting away into his own thoughts. When I was younger, this was horrible, now it's just annoying.

I really don't know. I find war tragic and am instinctively opposed to all of it, but I don't have enough info. to have a strong opinion on "the surge"

Mat,

1) Do any of you employees of 2+2 have web development experience and do any site, as opposed to forum, administration, or does Chuck do it all? Do you pay Chuck a fee for same each month or is it part of the deal with Conjelco for book distribution?

2) If you ranked all the user mods on a scale of 1-10, would you ever consider asking the bottom 20% to quit being mods and find new ones to replace them, or would you view that as too ungrateful a thing to do in consideration of their work being voluntary?

3) If your Dad ever marries again, what is the over/under on the woman being at least your age?

[/ QUOTE ]

Chuck does it all, and we are willing to hire someone to help with redesign. Mason pays Chuck. I don't have anything to do with that.

That would be horribly ungrateful on my part. I would never consider it.

I'd lay 50-1 that if he marries agin, I'll be older than the stepmommy.

When it comes to thinking rationally or poker, he's tough. When it comes to everything else, you have to understand, he's like a fifteen year old kid. In our interactions, I'm much more likely to be the one criticizing.

for ryan and mat

Whos posts on 2p2 do you laugh the most at?

Which forum do you wish didnt exist?

Are the chances of me ever becoming a mod greater than 0%?

Who is your celebrity man crush?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't know if I should admit it, but this post makes me laugh.

People think OOT is bad, but I'm amazed at the way people are drawn to the gossip forum. People want it, so I want the forum, but I wish people in general were bigger.

Are you on salary or by the hour?

How much do you make - you can be vague as in over $100k but less than $200k if that makes you more comfortable.

How much is your dad worth? Does he give you much financial support?

What type of car do you drive?
