Hi Erik,

I am a sport psych (both educational and clinical) and I have used different frequencies with many clients (some of them poker pros). Most have found it useful.

One of the books that a lot of people seem to gravitate too is 'Super learning'. Though it is sensationalized it does have some interesting possibilities for those who are creative.

I am also doing some work using EEG read out to figure out what parts of the brain are stimulated via different types of frequencies. There is a theory that different personality types react differently (so the result is not homogeneous).

Another place for people to look for information on music and performance is anything by Dr. Costas Karageorghis (Brunel University). You can googlescholar him and find a lot of stuff on music and performance. He has written a lot of popular articles (non scientific speak) that explains what goes on.

Just out of interest are you involved in music therapy or anything to do with it? I am always looking for interested collaborators or people to get involved in applied research.

Sincerely

Hi Dr. Gonosz,

I appreciate you posting these references. I will bookmark and check them out. My interest is as such. I have recently received certification as a hypnotherapist and I have worked with some children diagnosed ADHD (with great success). I discovered in process that using a 35Hz tone will get people in the "right place" to enter a hypnotic state. So I tried using the tone for myself to pay attention and it works for me like a drug. I put on the headphones and moments later I am hyper focused. I would like to study this area more, but simply have not plugged it in as a priority. Though I can see that it could really help with my work.

Thanks
Erik

could you pm the link to me as well. To a person with ADHD, poker has been great. All the constant changing situations along with some strong stimulants have made some of the best playing experiences. The idea of "background" noise helping focus even more, may make the need for other pharmacology un-necessary

I'm not sure really, I put it over some soft relaxing music and it works, putting it over death metal or something like that might not create the desired result. Try it and tell me what happens.
