Wow, some great names in here.
I want to add Billy Spiers to the list. I watched him in the minors with the Brewers and he was never a great player. Solid D, played 12 seasons and never had more than 8 homers. Averaged about .280 with five homers, 300 at bats and 9 stolen bases. Your basic hustle guy. Rex "the wonder dog" Hudler, Chris Sabo, Chris Dudley! Great work guys. |

More like Chris Gaybo. Do you have those goggles on to protect your eyes from all the weiners trying to get into them? [/ QUOTE ] We used to call these "cum shields." -McGee |

Michael Bishop, Patriots third string quarterback.
My friends and I were all convinced that if he started in place of Bledsoe, the Pats would win the Super Bowl. |

Charles Way had one year where he could've gone to the Pro Bowl and retired because of injuries - dunno if he was a scrub.
I loved the Yankees of the early 90s - Matt Nokes, Mel Hall, Dion James. On the mid 90s Devils I was a big Reid Simpson fan - but it's okay to like scrubs in the NHL, it's even expected. |

If we expand the definition of "scrub" to include guys who were just ok (which apparently we are), then I think Way fits. |

[ QUOTE ] Rex Hudler was another former Expo who fits that mold. [/ QUOTE ] Yes! Wonderdog! You're bringing back memories, man. Like many Canadians I followed both Toronto and the Spos back them. Remember when Henry Rodgriguez was smacking homers in '96 and the local press nicknamed him "O'Henry" and the fans would throw O'Henry chocolate bars on the field? Good times, good times. [/ QUOTE ] Yuppers...I threw many an Oh Henry bar onto the field that year. The Expos almost made the playoffs that year. They had the lead in the National league East at the all-star break, but didn't have the horses to keep it going for the rest of the season. They were tied with the Padres and Dodgers for the wild card going into the final week of the season. Unfortunately, the Expos had to play the Braves in a FIVE game series to close out the season. They managed to win 2 out of 5, but ended up getting passed in the standings by both the Dodgers and the Padres. That winter, they lost the few remaining stars that they'd managed to hold on to after the 94 strike. |

The Dave Brown Danny Kanell Era? LOL. [/ QUOTE ] You wouldn't be LOL-ing if you were a Giants fan. The memories are too painful. EDIT: Still, Way was one of the few bright spots on those teams. He did a real good job blocking for Rodney Hampton (another oasis in a desert of suck), and always seemed to catch timely passes in the red zone or on 3rd & short. |
