He can only learn those consequences 1 of 2 ways: learn by experiencing and taking ownership and responsibility in his choices, or 2: robotically following orders. The latter argument neither worked for Calley at My Lai, nor did it work for the Nazis at Nuremberg. It basically boils down to the kind of person you want to raise. A person dependent on orders, or one that can make successful decisions.

not for nothing, but most all other people in his life won't be telling him the whole truth in one way or another, what would be wrong with just leveling with the young man?

and, with all due respect to proper birth control, why wouldn't you be pulling for him to be sexually active? how many did you let get away in your day, and wouldn't it be cheaper if he learned from pop's mistakes?
