This is the point i was making when i said that the UIGEA targets poker not sportsbetting.

Sportsbetting was already cooked, to use Free's term, thanks to the Wire Act. UIGEA really doesn't do much additionally from the perspective of the operator of a sportsbook.

Just because it was already illegal before doesn't mean the new law doesn't change anything. The wire act is over 40 years old, long before the internet was invented. The fact that Congress made the point to specifically include sports in the wording of the bill makes the government's stance much stronger, in my opinion.

This is of course coming from someone who knows very little about the law and just got into sports betting a few months ago.

Also, I've read that the Supreme court hasn't officially ruled that the wire act pertains to the internet. So one could argue that online sports betting was NOT illegal before. It certainly is now.

They had already lowered their CFB seeding amounts last week. Their hockey overnights aren't nearly as good as they were in previous years either; last year they might be offering +160 and -174, now it's closer to +155 and -179.

You guys were all living on borrowed time with betting teasers there anyway. Last year in mid October they went on a big purge and cut off every remotely sharp teaser player. There was post after post from people on message boards saying "I got cut off from betting teasers" and I knew lots of small bettors, even people who bet $50 or $100 a game, that got cut off.

Can someone help me with the sports exchange? For example when I look at MLB futures for the World Series, the Mets are +250 (bet) and +350(bet against).

for bet against odds, just flip the +/- to the opposite. so you would take +250 for the Mets to win, and LAY -350 for them to lose. conversely, a heavy favorite in a head to head match would have a negative bet against price, which is actually positive odds (since less likely to happen).

try adding Bet Against to your wager queue and you'll see the prices calculated automatically.

I'm not in the US and do not have a US mailing address and cannot see the sportsbook either. Support has said only "technical difficulties" or similar.

The "bet against" is actually the price you're offering to those who want to bet that side, so the +350 is really -350 from the perspective of the person who's doing the "betting against." Click on the +350, put $350 into the risk amount, and you'll see the win amount is $100.

I agree it's confusing but that's how the UK exchanges do it.
