Bd6? or am I completely missing something? [/ QUOTE ] White will be bringing pressure against d5. Bd6 would take away the Q's ability to cover it. We will be looking at white playing Nc3 very shortly as well and that will just compound our d5 problem. I may be full of [censored] with my 900 rating but maybe the advanced players can explain it better. I just wanted to give my ideas on your move since I noticed it wasn't being discussed. I agree with developing the dark square bishop. c5 or f2 look like the only two possibilities, but not only am I not so great to begin with and very rusty, we are in an opening I have not played very often when I actaully still played.
I think we should have a curtains vs. POG in Go after this. I am also pretty rusty there (and not super to begin with) but I think I can get back up to speed on go pretty quickly and I am guessing curtains hasn't played too much go (and everyone who isn't curtains will be wanting redemtption). |

The reason I don't like d6 is it blocks one of the defenders of our isolated pawn, and I think that pawn is going to be the focal point of our struggle for a while.

I don't know which move is best but ChrisV seems to have the most clearly written reasoning so far

How about Bc5 rather than Be7? At least you are attacking some center squares and a pawn there. Get that B in play!

Be7, Be7, Be7, Be7.
Get the king to safety plz. |

uhh, how is Be7 any better than Bc5. Bc5 gets the same bishop out into play on a useful square. Be7 does the same thing except it only attacks along a currently useless diagonal.
curtains is undoubtedly going to O-O. why not really develop this piece and then following w/ O-O ourselves? |
