Default My biggest B&M petpeeve

Does this bother anyone else? While I love playing live poker, the thing that gets under my skin is the guys/girls who scream "open seat" as soon as someone gets up. Then they proceed to inform the floor at every possible time "Did you know we have an open seat?" Why is it that people all of a sudden freak out as soon as there are 9 players instead of 10?

This past weekend one man would not shut up about our 8 handed game and insisted that there must be a list. Sure enough there was no board and the floor repeatedly told him so. still he continued to curse at them saying "Where the F are all the players? Jesus Fn Christ there are ninety players in here why arent they at our table?" Seeing as how this was Saturday at the Borgata, I'm pretty sure there were more than 90 players there.

Just a rant.

I suspect they worry because they are older B&M regulars who aren't as comfortable playing shorthanded as the internet folks who frequently play 6max or even some heads-up. Whenever I play live I love it when the table gets 6- or 7-handed because I can open up my range of hands to raise and usually steal more often, as most people don't make that adjustment.

Just my $.02.

I would agree, I love it when the table gets shorthanded, because most players have no idea that you have to play more hands.

yeah I don't really think that the majority of B&M mouth breathers are playing too tight for a temporarily 7 handed table

Precisely! They're actually playing more correctly.

At small-stakes B&M play, so much of your edge comes from tight play that I don't think losing players gives you nearly a compensating edge in your ability to adjust. You certainly should adjust, but you're probably just playing as loose as everyone else was all along. Hopefully you're more aggressive, though.

jkamowitz,

nice bumping into you. sorry i wasn't more excited to meet a 2+2er im usually a dweeb like that.

I hate this and this being done to unprecedented levels this weekend has forced me to cancel my AC trip this weekend. Live poker players are [censored] miserable and I'd rather sit at home alone and play online than watch those peope fall asleep at the table, complain about not getting a glass for their wine, and tell me what to do.

I really wouldn't care if someone said "hey, we should fill that seat!" but it's the snapping and anger that just make playing not pleasant. I do my best at the table to be funny and polite, but one person just ruins the whole thing for me.

BTW - way to run over the game. And how good/bad is my dad?

hey, so they want to bring more money to the table and they like bigger pots, more action. I love playing shorthanded against loose-passives but I don't want them to get up and leave.

The only time hearing "open seat!" angers me is when I get up after a horrific bust out.
