....but i am happy about it. i met this guy at a card room. he is a very nice guy. he is the horrible at poker. just horrible. i used to see him playing 30/60, but now i see him playing 6/12 and 4/8. a few months ago i bought SSH with the intention of giving it to him. after thnking more about it, i thought he may view that as condescending, so i decided not to give it to him. the book has been collecting dust. last week i saw him reading HPFAP. he said he borrowed it from someone. i told him i had a book for him that he should read. his eyes lit up. i brought it to the card room for him. he has been reading it and is very appreciative. i am a bad guy. but i feel good about it.

PokerBob,

What games do you usually play...? If you're regularly in the big games, I don't think it should be too much of a problem. Educating one nice guy can't be a problem anyway...

I think what you did is cool, but just because he has SSHE and HPFAP does not mean he is going to become a winning player. It will take work just to learn to lose less quickly.

PokerBob, If a big snake gives birth to a little snake, what will that little snake grow up to become? [/ QUOTE ] i think your analogy doesn't work here. if i give a smoker info about how smoking kills you, does this mean he won't smoke? |

Bob, nice job. People take this [censored] way too seriously. You decided to help a nice guy - this is far more EV than letting him grind away and lose at low limits. A long time ago, a friend called me and told me about online poker. He noticed I was a terrible player, and sent me the starting hand chart from Lee Jones WLLHE. He eventually quit poker, and now I've invested a significant amount of money in a company he is starting.
A year after he did this for me, I sweated my friend Mike and 2p2er mikeyKay for a while at low limits. He grinded his way up, had some bad swings, and eventually won a 750k guaranteed on Party for 150k. I'd never have played if it weren't for my friend, and Mike probably wouldn't have succeeded without me. All three of our lives are significantly better because of it. Player pools are so huge that not helping a nice fish 'because it will hurt the games' is a childish joke. I firmly believe I have significantly helped dozens of players, and those players have probably helped dozens more. The number on the bottom of my pokertracker continues to grow faster and faster - why shouldnt I help people again? -James |
