Default 1/2 ATo raising river db with middle pair.

Been a short time on the table. BB was loose, and thought he was more passive than aggressive.

Usually I just call the river donk bet. This time a had in mind some earlier river donk bets, when willian hit his pair at last and bet out. Is it ever correct to raise on the river with this kind of hand if you think he may bet out a low pair, like J8 in this case.

I would usually just call this, but it looks like you were paying attention and saw the guy donking rivers. Very nice read. I like this raise against the bluff police players that will donk the river with any piece of the board because they figure you're always playing UI high cards. However, it's not something I would care to do when bet into by a loose player without a really good read.

i'm also curious what people think about the three bet call? Getting 9:1 to call it. Sounds like the read was just that MP donk bets marginal hands. Once he three bets, are we good 10% of the time? If he had a king, would he wait until the river to raise? 88? Does the OP still think he might just have an 8?

I think the only thing you realistically have to fear is his holding 88. Other than just bluffing the river that's the only thing that makes sense. And since the odds against that are good *and* you think he's been bluffing the river, I'd raise.

no point raising the river. Why call the three bet as well?

If you do make this move, which I don't like, there is no way I'm calling a 3-bet.
