Default Cardplayer making up hands for POY

while playing I was sitting near the final table of the bellagio cup event today.

http://www.cardplayer.com/tournaments/live_updates/7788

The 2nd to last hand is legit, after that they made a deal of which i know no details.

After the deal the cardplayer reporter talked to the players and explained that he couldn't report the deal due to player of the year points and had to make something up (i'm paraphrasing but the gist is 100%). and thus the phantom final hand

in this case who cares right? but over time (and with the money wagered on POY) deals need to be considered.

and perhaps truth in reporting should count for something? i imagine this policy came after the JC tran "win" that wasn't in april

It should count for a lot.

The writer should have reported the truth and let whoever is responsible for POY stuff figure out what to do with the points.

If true, this shows once again how CP has degenerated from being the "Poker Authority," to poker's version of "People." If the Shulmans ever cared about journalistic integrity they did nothing to keep it in the magazine.

i was there, last hand definately completely made up. I believe the cardplayer's reasoning is completely accurate. They can't have a non winner for a POY event so whoever was ahead when the chop comes (whoever gets the bracelet in the chop terms) gets the win and the POY points, so they have to make up a hand to get him the win.

Jeez, as long as they were making up such a dramatic hand why not have the guy make a royal flush.

Why can't they? The POY is a marketing program. But their reporting, and the integrity of it, is part of what makes them believe they are the "Poker Authority." They should simply report, a deal was made, game over. Anyone who follows updates will understand how and why that happens. But to make up hands so that it somehow doesn't tarnish POY just does not look good for them.

There's that aaron been being a dick again as usual. What an a-hole.
