Default Nut Full House vs. Quads in Omaha Hi/Lo, Please Help Me!

(cross post from beats & variance)

Alright, just the other day I posted a hand where I raised pre-flop in Omaha hi/lo with an A/A/x/x hand and got called by some idiot in the SB who held 6/9/9/K

We both flop trips, he turns quads when I make the nut full house and he scoops the pot.

Well, friggin' today I'm playing again, and here it comes:

Party Poker
Limit Omaha Ring game
Limit: $2/$4
9 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $16
Hero: $111.12
MP1: $615.50
MP2: $95
MP3: $147.50
CO: $47.75
Button: $105.50
SB: $67.63
BB: $163.12

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is UTG+1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
UTG folds, <font color="#cc3333">Hero raises</font>, 2 folds, MP3 calls, CO folds, Button calls, SB folds, BB calls.

Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (8.5SB, 4 players)
BB checks, <font color="#cc3333">Hero bets</font>, 2 folds, BB calls.

Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5.25BB, 2 players)
BB checks, <font color="#cc3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#cc3333">BB raises</font>, <font color="#cc3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#cc3333">BB Caps</font>, Hero calls.

River: 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (17.25BB, 2 players)
<font color="#cc3333">BB bets</font>, Hero calls.

Results:
Final pot: 19.25BB

Friggin' idiot shows 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Not to mention that when I played on Empire when they were still connected, I had another hand where I turned the nut house and ran into quad 9's. These just seem to be the ultimate friggin' setup hands to drain my bankroll, and I'm getting so tired from it.

If someone could give me some solid advice on how to handle this [censored], instead of troll [censored] like "move up limits" or whatever, it would be great.

You can't have a nut full house with a pair.

Uh, not sure what you're talking about.

I have A/A/A/7/7 thus the best possible full house (if you're not familiar with Omaha hi/lo, you use two cards from your four-card hand that is dealt to you, plus three cards from the five-card flop, to make a five-card hand)

Grandgnu,

Believe me I sympathize. But hear me out. First thing is if I read your description correctly the big blind called one raise when two others called in front of him. So he was getting 7 to 1 on his call so you can't really be too frustrated with the rags he was playing. Yes it was a bad starting hand but in that situation the BB could have anything so you need to be aware of that.

Second, yes you turned the nut house but not the nuts. If you have A, 7 and the board flopps A,A, 7 that would be the nuts. So realize you don't have the nuts, (I know you knew it wasn't the nuts, not trying to insult you just try to explain fully). Obviously you have a monster hand but when you get reraised on the turn that is when you have to try to put a read on the guy and just call him down. You may save yourself 2 bets but if he doesn't have the quads you lose yourself two bets by calling him. Don't get too frustrated, big up and down swings in Omaha. My main point here would be beware of the BB when there are callers in front of him bc pot odds are in his favor to call with almost anything. It has nothing to do with the limits you are playing.

Grandnu, it probably wont make you feel better when it happens but I saw a guy lose a $70k pot in a pot limit omaha game . He held AAKT flop AJ9 turn J river 8. But it wasn't quads he rivered a straight flush on a paired board. It happens but you want the donks chasing to one out.
