Now that the WSOP is running a $50,000 H O R S E do you think that this will help bring more players into Stud, Omaha etc. Poker needs to evolve to keep on growing so I hope this means more tournaments will play a wider range of games. Deos anyone agree?

I don't think it will bring any more players into stud and omaha. And, I don't think this is what poker needs to do to expand the game.

Official WSOP schedule
That's interesting they are having it for $50K, 5x the NLHE ME. They didn't even have a HORSE or HOSE event last year. HORSE attracts strong players and they should have quite a lineup for that at $50K. I would expect it will be televised at $50K. I play all the HORSE events equally badly and would like to play in HORSE tournaments. However, they have had $200 HORSE tournaments online with like 20 players including several name pros, so it seems more EV+ to play the games the fish play. |

[/ QUOTE ] Sonds like a really bad idea. Switching to NLHE for the final table would be a real abomination. Just televise the mixed games. They have televised PLO, Stud, razz, and limit HE. |

I think HORSE with a NLHE final table is the obvious solution. Everyone wants to see final tables with a lot of big-name pros playing for huge prizes. But NLHE is the only game that really televises well. PLO and LHE aren't bad, but showing any of the Hi/Lo games on TV would be a disaster. The pros should be happy they got a big buy-in mixed game, and the TV networks and audience should be happy that they will get a great NLHE final table. The number of people out there who want to get Stud 8/B on TV is really small. |
