I have a lot of schoolwork so I decided to play a 20/180 to keep me sane while I do my research. I am distracted so no reads
I haven't played in the 20/180s before but I have read enough threads about them to pique my interest. I am not sure about the general level of play in these games so I am especially interested to hear from the 20/180 experts On the flop I was hoping to get raised so that I could 3-bet push. I was going to pot the turn if I missed (feel free to comment on that plan as well as what actually happened) 80 players left. I have seen 20% of the flops so far and have not been out of line. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) saw flop CO (t1770) Button (t2850) Hero (t3079) BB (t6138) UTG (t2035) UTG+1 (t5290) MP1 (t1285) MP2 (t1160) MP3 (t1955) Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. UTG calls t100, 6 folds, Hero completes, BB checks. Flop: (t300) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero bets t100, BB calls t100, UTG folds. Turn: (t500) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero waits 15 seconds and checks, BB bets t600, Hero lets time bank run down to 30 and raises to t1200... Plan is obviously to push river if called. |

My nitty self wants to remind you that you do not in fact have the nuts on the turn - a straight flush is possible here

I like the minraise here because of stack sizes, but yeah you don't have the nuts...

You guys are such nits.
What do you think about the minbet on the flop? I would have bet 200 or 300 if UTG had more chips but I wanted to give him room to fold to a 3-bet if he chose to raise the flop. |

I dunno - what can villian have? If he holds the K or possibly the J of [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], then min-raising lets him get away as it pretty well screams A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. since we have position I would either flat call or raise to 1,600 - 1,800. A flat call lets villian lead again on the riv while a larger raise offers good odds with more moolah in the pot. He may push over a larger raise with his stack size. If I'm villian, I'm folding to a min-raise without a set or the K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

How is a minbet worse than betting 1/2 our stack? IMO it isn't and we give them bad odds to draw at an inside SF draw, we are willing to go broke w/ this hand, we have to try to get them to go broke as well. All options pretty much suck for this. Calling and raising (maybe AI could work) all scream the nuts here. |

Beachman/AceLubby I was the small blind. I was out of position and checked- raised the turn [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I missed that. Given that fact, I think I just re-raise AI after his bet. Villian should check almost any river behind if 600 on the turn is a feeler bet. I push as its the only real chance to get doubled up. I expect him to fold like 80% of the time, but that 20% is still better than hoping for a stronger 2nd place hand on the riv that doesn't beat us (pairing the board). He may have the K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or he may call a percieved bluff with decent pot odds. I still don't like a min-raise here. |
