Villain is relatively unknown. Do I absolutely have to bet this turn, or is CR AI ok? Block the river? I was probably calling up to $12 or so on the river.

STACK SIZES?
betting the turn has merit since we can push the river then c/r the turn has merit since he'll call, but he has to bet first i think i bet this river and fold to a raise since it's easier for AQ to call here than to bet |

I think him calling your almost pot-sized bet on the flop, indicates that he will probably call your turn bet also, so there isn't as much need to try to trap him by trying the checkraise. And I agree with the other poster, bet the river also.

Betting the turn for valuetown and protection. If he doenst call the turn bet is unlikely you were getting much more without some sort of cooler occuring.

[/ QUOTE ] So, you're only checking this turn when you plan to fold? How often (if any) should you go for a CR with initiative? I feel like every time I double barrel with a made hand, I get very little action, so I thought mixing in some of these plays might be useful. Maybe that's more of a 200 NL play? |

No reason to check this turn. No need to control the size of the pot because you have top 2, plus you dont want to give a free card to the draw.
