Sat 9/9 177 Ohio State +2.5 -105 +118 on Pinny.
I am all over OSU next week.... 1. Number one Defense in the country vs a QB w/ his only second start in his life (if you're going to count N texas a real game) 2. Starting CB got arrested web page 3. Motivation for their loss from last year... |

I love OSU here for all the reasons you mention, plus because there offense looked so good against NIU last week, That passing game should light up whatever backup CB's starting for Texas. The only thing I'm not sure is whether to bet the spread or the moneyline. +118 doesn't seem like much value versus -110, but I don't see Texas winning by exactly one or two either. Tricky decision.

Can someone explain to a college football betting novice how the heck Ohio State is a dog in this one? I watched the Ohio State game last week and they were awesome. I didn't see Texas play but there is no reason to think Ohio is a dog to them is there? Does texas present some particularly difficult matchups or is the assumption Ohio State is overrated preseason?

1. OSU is on the road..texas is at home...
2. Texas is the national champions... 3. College football is different than NFL..you have to remember these guys are still in school and they have to worry about classes..ect 4. its still the beginning of the season so the lines arent adjusted yet.. |

I am all over OSU next week.... 1. Number one Defense in the country [/ QUOTE ] Not trying to start something, but let's be real here... I don't recall the last time a "number one" defense gave up 285 yards to ONE PLAYER (albeit a very good one). Ohio St. will probably be fine on D by the end of the year, but I can't imagine them even cracking the top 5 by any objective measure. ML4L |

Ok..not the number 1 D in the country but top 10. the guy they gave 285 yards to played the whole game against the OSU 2nd and 3rd string and is going to play on sundays in a few years.

Tressel is a better coach than I thought if he can replace 9 defensive starters and already has the #1 defense in the country. I like OSU in this one, but I don't think it's the no-doubter some of you seem to believe. Even with a new QB, Texas has a very good OL and very good skill players. Their defense is very good and will need to be to stop Ohio State. Both coaches tend to coach conservatively in bigger games, so as someone noted, home field aside, this is basically a pick'em.
