Hero Holds: A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the cuttoff Preflop: 4 folds, MP3(LAG) calls, hero bets, 3 folds. Flop K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] MP3 bets, Hero raises, MP3 calls Turn Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Mp3 checks, Hero bets, Mp3 calls Right here Im worried of the KQ now and its 2 pair since she called my preflop raise out of position, and my only draw is to a set or a pair on the board River 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Mp3 bets, Hero raises, Mp3 calls |

Pretty standard. Only question is if you're 3-bet on the river by MP3, are you calling? That is pretty close IMO. The MP3 is LAG but he's not stupid, do you think you can beat anything that he might 3-bet you with on the river... It honestly looks like A-8 to me. Other than that, the rest of the hand is pretty standard

I would just call river. The board pairing is nice, but if she's really loose, and eight is entirely possible. Would she limp hands like A8,K8? Is she aggressive enough to 3bet the flop with K8? I've seen a lot of live players who apparently do not know that 3betting is allowed.
Definitely raise turn, maybe there's some value in the river raise, but I've learned to restrain myself in a lot of cases where I'm tempted. You also put yourself in a sticky situation if its 3bet. |

I like raising the river if you're able to fold to a 3 bet. Otherwise, just call.

KQ raises the turn.
Just call the river. |

I see the bet on the flop as him having a king or an overcard (AQ-AT). If he outright bet the turn, i'd put him on a KQ-K8, but he didn't so I don't think he had anything over 1 pair. He bet the river, meaning he's trying to represent (or actually has) a set of 8's. I think he probably just has a junk king. I'd probably call the river, just because of the possibility of a set.

In your OP you said pre-flop "hero bets". Does this mean you just called or raised? I would always raise here.
I'm not crazy about the river raise, and would probably just call. You cant fold, and there are some (many)opponents who will utilize a scare card on the river and bet in EP for value in case their hand is good and as a possible bluff, rather than checking and calling as a bigger underdog, especially since they know you probably wont raise unless you have trips beaten. The problem with raising on the river, is that you having shown so much strength on every street and raising into possible trip eights, is that it is unlikely for you to be called unless that is exactly what you are up against. I think the win/lose ratio here is at least 50%. This coupled with the fact that you also re-open the betting to get re-raised whether your opponent has trip eights or not, which puts you in a precarious position should tend to make you just call. If you call and are beaten, you have lost two additional bets, if you fold and your opponent will sometimes have the worse hand, you have made a huge mistake. If your opponent folds you gain nothing anyway. If your opponent just calls and beats you, you still lose an extra bet. For raising to be correct, you have to have a kind of lose fishy calling station who will call with any king or queen here. For raising and then folding if reraised to be correct, you have to be up against a totally predictable tight calling station type player. You are heads-up with an opponent who is LAG-ish, and so you cant auto-fold just because he re-raises. -J |

KQ raises preflop too. Unlikely.

Looks fine.
[ QUOTE ] Mp3 checks, Hero bets, Mp3 calls Right here Im worried of the KQ now and its 2 pair since she called my preflop raise out of position, and my only draw is to a set or a pair on the board [/ QUOTE ] What did you expect her to do after you raised preflop? This really doesn't mean much. She's a LAG, I wouldn't worry too much when a LAG isn't checkraising the turn. If you lost, sometimes you're just doomed to lose the hand. b |
