I've been watching the Mariners blow for several weeks and think that they are in the same league as KC. Beltre and Sexson are underperforming and every time I tune in I see some bonehead play that makes me want to puke. The baserunning errors, like Ichiro getting hung out between second and third on a weak liner to the pitcher, Everett rounding third and becoming the final out of a triple play, Ibanez being waved home on Sexson's scorched ground ball directly to the shallow left fielder, Bloomquist trying for third on a routine grounder to short, and the list could go on. And why can't these guys get a bunt down? Yeah, I'm thinking about Lopez popping up the squeeze bunt to Santana, but there are other instances (both Lopez and Betancourt). He should have fouled it off, gone up there with a plan--anything above the nipples gets fouled off, try to get anything below the nipples down. I have no problem with physical errors and low batting averages, it's the mental errors that drive me crazy. Like I said, every time I tune into an M's game, I'm treated to some bonehead play. My very biased vote goes to the M's. I hope they lose 110 games this year and management is forced to clean house. This team is too much to take for 9 innings.

You need to watch more KC games. The M's would smack KC around even with all the base running errors. KC is basically a bad AAA team. Its like a AAA team that doesnt care. They dont even have a decent farm system, its just sad.
Edit: Didnt notice, KC vs M's series coming up. There can only be one. |

Other than that, it's been sad to watch the decline of a franchise that for a long time from 1976-1990 was the equal of any in baseball. --Scott |

Seattle has some bright spots, they'll compete if they ever get some decent starting pitching and Sexson learns how to make contact.

...it's been sad to watch the decline of a franchise that for a long time from 1976-1990 was the equal of any in baseball. [/ QUOTE ] The Royals were truly a great franchise. In their first season (1969), they were a respectable 69-93. Just two years later, the finished above .500 with a 85-76 record. They were always a contender starting in the mid-70's to late 80's. 1975 91 71 .562 2nd place 1976 90 72 .556 1st place (lost ALCS) 1977 102 60 .630 1st place (Lost ALCS) 1978 92 70 .567 1st place (Lost ALCS) 1979 85 77 .525 2nd place 1980 97 65 .599 1st place (Lost World Series) 1981 50 53 .485 4th place 1982 90 72 .556 2nd place 1983 79 83 .488 2nd place 1984 84 78 .519 1st place (Lost ALCS) 1985 91 71 .562 1st place (Won World Series) 1986 76 86 .469 3rd place 1987 83 79 .512 2nd place 1988 84 77 .522 3rd place 1989 92 70 .568 2nd place Since the 1994 strike, they've had only one winning seasons (83-79 in 2003). |

Their 2003 season was pretty bad, you know, for an 83 win season...

The A's just lost two out of three at home to the Royals. The A's are the worst team in baseball right now.

OBP the last six years:
.310 .303 .290 .388 .303 .294 SLG: .411 .426 .424 .629 .413 .300 So he's a little down this year. But the peculiar year was his contract year with the Dodgers. It's doubtful he'll ever do that again. The other numbers are his norm. |

Royals are easily the worst. Cubs suck as well, but at least have hope when Lee returns.
