Default Paranoid or Ferris Beulers day off?

I'm sure everyone has seen the parking attendent scene in Ferris Beulers day off.
Anyways my car was broken into last monday, smashed window couple of cd's missing yada yada yada. So I took it to a repair shop by my work, it's a chain of shops and close by so I figured since it was all covered by insurance there was no point in shopping around.
I briefly thought about writting down the milage when I dropped it off but didn't. Repair should have taken 1-2 days, it took 8. The problem was as they said, they couldn't get it to start, it's an rx-8, I've never flooded it but short trips, ie around the shop will do that. After a couple calls to the dealership they finally got it fixed, they said they were going to tow it but a technician helped them ect. Still a long repair.
So I drive it back to work an hour ago, nothing about it is right, I don't remember having 20,000 km on the car I thought I was high 19,xxx no way more than 21,000km, there are 22,500!!! on the car. The clutch feels extremly soft (burnouts) the shift gate is really ruff, the brakes feel soft and worn. The seat was adjusted in every direction, now I can understand forward and back but up and down? Not to mention both the drivers and passengers seat heaters were on. Why would the drivers be on let alone the passengers? I filled the tank the night before the break in and a quarter tank of gas was gone? Have I lost my mind, or is this actually possible, and if it is, it would appear there's absolutely nothing I can do.

It's really not that hard to believe that this happened.

Post pics/stats on your car. Not everyone knows what an RX8 is.

Wow. And the best part is that you have absolutely no "real" proof to back up your allegations. If you go back to the shop they'll just deny everything.

I wonder where they went to have added 2500 miles to your odometer?

I don't know how to post pics but if someone would that'd be fine.
It's a 2005, fully loaded, leather, 6-speed, 18 inch wheels, 235hp, rotatry engine, 9000rpm redline, it's really sporty and fast.
The thing is if I really wanted to go out on a limb, I could claim to have written the milage, it's 2500km not miles, that really isn't that much, 3 highway hours a day tops.
It's a digital odometer I wonder if the dealership could tell how many km's were put on in the past week?

That's a good question. You should call your dealership and ask if the cars onboard computer stores that information. It's a longshot, but it would be pretty cool if it did.

No onbaord on the Rx - you are screwed - incidentally mine was stolen from my house 4 weeks ago (04 model), there was no GPS tracking on it and it is now likley in Russia or something - just got my new one on Friday (06 model) - I can see why someone would take it for a spin......I would reco talking to the owner of the shop, likley to no avail but it will not hurt
