Doc lives in a self-imposed prison of abject denial. The girl is a succubus who's been feeding off his emotions for years. OP has caused himself nothing but misery and pain to the point where he seems more or less accustomed to it as his lot in life. He is chasing a worthless dream that will never, ever come anyway, and seems content to skip merrily down the path of self-destruction.

Anacardo rocks as always, but I would say that skipping any of this thread is a mistake. It's an organic thing, man. Smoke it and take that smoke deep into your lungs. It will take your brain to another place. You'll be able to count your fingers, man, but you'll never run out of them, even if you have only five. Step through the looking glass of self-degredation, and chase your white rabbit down into a hole that isn't there. Explode through the house and realize you're wearing a dress and the queen wants your head. Post about it on OOT and say you were only painting rosebushes. Wake up and realize your life is the greatest hang-over ever. Wave to El Diablo, the Cheshire Cat, and realize you've returned from the hero's journey with nothing.
