Lots of new posters recently, thought they might want to add. Ignore if this is dumb.

Well, according to the bank that is giving me my mortgage I am a professional poker player...so I guess I am stuck with that for now. If studying (or if graduated), what and where? I thought we should have a triumvirate of Danes, so I'll post, too.
How old are you? 33 Where do you live? Odense, Denmark (where Bobber studies German), but I work in Copenhagen (where Gelford lives) Are you married? Girlfriend/Boyfriend? Children? Girlfriend, four years and counting. Three-year-old daughter. Yes, thanks, it was a great first date! Occupation besides poker? Ph.D. student If studying (or if graduated), what and where? BA Classical philology, University of Copenhagen. MSc Information science, Royal School of Library and Information Science. Favorite movie? Music? I'm an opera fan, but ever since we got a new, stupid opera house, people are anxious to get in there to be seen, so it's hard to get tickets. Consequently, I'm drifting towards movie music (Williams, Zimmer, Shore etc.). The answer to both questions are in fact "The English Patient". Best poker acomplishment? How long been playing? I've been playing for two years. I can now pay rent with my poker winnings, but then my rent is kinda low. I really want to play stud and stud/8 exclusively, but the Crypto monthly bonus is having a strange hold on me, so I play hold'em too - even though I hate it and I firmly believe it's a cave dweller's game (I do win at it, though, but I always feel dirty and ashamed for playing it). I need some sort of bonus 12 steps programme, because I have no power over the $180/mo. Crypto bonus (Inter, Plex & Sun). My biggest accomplishment was running at +10BB/100 in the Crypto $1/$2 over 3000 hands, but then that went south for whatever reason (yeah, yeah ... sample size, variance etc.). I also placed in the final five in eight consecutive stud/8 MTTs on Paradise a year or so ago, but people were playing so badly, I think my mobile phone could have made the final table on a regular basis. Come to think of it, my only accomplishment is being polite, supportive and friendly at the tables rather than screaming at my fellow players, abusing newbies and making explicit assumptions about the sexual habits of other people's mothers. That's actually something. I would like to add that this a great forum, and I hope everybody will put up with my really stupid questions until the day comes that I may advice people myself rather than just getting tutored for free. Happy playing and beware of the 8. Smurf |

How old are you? Birthday?
44, will be 45 in October Where do you live? I am originally from Amsterdam, Holland. I lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL from 1979-1981, and near Boston, MA since 1981. Are you married? Girlfriend/Boyfriend? Children? Married for 10 months, no kids. Occupation besides poker? Software Engineer If studying (or if graduated), what and where? Undergraduate degree in computer science from Boston University. Favorite movie? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest Music? The Beatles Best poker accomplishment? How long been playing? Been playing since late 80's, started playing in casinos in 1991. Started playing on-line in September of 2005. I do well in live play, i.e. not on-line. I consistently have winning years. However, I have not figured out on-line yet. I am a break even player on-line, I have had some nice upswings only to follow it with bad downswings. Maybe it has to do with the fact that in live play you actually have to handle chips and that gives me an extra few seconds to think which prevents me from doing stupid stuff, instead of just instantly pressing a button. I don't know. Statically my worst session ever was about 17 years ago in a 4-handed 5 cents - 25 cents limit dealer's choice game. I lost $33 before I won my 1st pot. It took 3 and half hours before I won my 1st hand. That's really hard to do 4-handed. Glad the stakes were so low. The biggest pot I have ever been involved with betting unit wise was at a $1-$5 7 stud game at a fund raiser. 3 players were rolled (Aces, Tens, and Fours), I had pocket Jacks which tripped up on 4th and filled on 5th. Couple other players had flush/straight draws. And then there was the old man with a pair of Queens. 3rd street was played slowly, 4th, 5th and 6th were all capped 6-7 way action. The old man with a pair of Queens on 5th caught Queens up on 6th and Queens full on the river and scooped a $460 pot. That's a 92 big bet pot. The rolled Tens filled, the other 2 rolled hands did not. About 5 years ago I had a $10,000 upswing in 2.5 hours in a 7-stud $75-$150 game at Foxwoods. I was down $2800, got hit by the deck for the next 2.5 hours and walked away up $7200. A few months later in the same $75-$150 game, I went 9 bets on 6th street with a guy who was on full-blown tilt. I had an Ace high straight, he had a pair of Queens and a 4-flush (we had also gone 3 bets on 5th street). He was on such tilt that he wanted just get his last money in on a draw so I kept re-raising his raises until he was all-in (his board could not beat my made hand). I am sure glad he missed his flush on the river, naturally his cards went flying all over the place as he stormed out of the casino. Other: I think there are some really good posters here, this by far is my favorite forum. I read often, at least a few times a week. I don't have much time to post plus I am not good at putting poker thoughts in writing. Maybe sometime I'll have more time and I'll try to do my share. Thanks. |

How old are you? Birthday?
22, nov. 5 Where do you live? Birmingham, UK but i'm american Are you married? Girlfriend/Boyfriend? Children? no but I came to the UK to live near my English girlfriend. Occupation besides poker? none, I'm currently trying to decide on this. If studying (or if graduated), what and where? I studied at the University of Minnnesota Duluth and the University of Birmingham. I have my bachelor's degree in statistics and acutarial science. Favorite movie? Music? Movie has to be Good Will Hunting and music has to be Bob Dylan Best poker acomplishment? How long been playing? I started out when i was 18 playing 3/6 stud at Canterbury Park. Since then I played alot of limit and NL hold'em in the casino's and home games around Duluth. When i studied abroad in birmingham I learned to play PLO and PLO8 and consistently beat the biggest games that go around here. I've won two large tourneys since i've moved back to England in NL Hold'em at the Broadway Casino in Birmingham but I'm actually more pround of the fact that i've been able to become a winning player at all of the different forms of poker(except triple draw 2-7) at which i need some practice. My stud is relegated to online these days as no one really plays it in England anymore. I'm hoping to take a trip to atlantic city one these days and play in the infamous 75/150 at the Taj. |

I'm about 50.
Been married a longtime. Have two children one boy one girl. Poker will never be an occupation. It is purely recreation. I work for largest insurance company in the world. I am now working on various relagtory compliance issues (Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC 38A-1, Anti Money Laundring requirements etc.... stuff like that. I have a couple of masters degrees...MA in Economics and MS in Computer Science. Being an Economist didn't pay so good at first so I went back to school....a long time ago. Now I don't do either. No real poker accomplishments except for a few good memories. Been playing a while. I wanted to learn more about Texas Hold 'Em so I bought a book and the book gave the web address for this site which is how I wound up here. I think that was the best part of the book. hahaha! (it wasn't a 2+2 book) |
