i won't. [/ QUOTE ] Aren't you Mr. High Stakes Limit, P-Bob? I remain skeptical. But the IRS appreciates your honesty and promises to note your denial for the record . (Anyone who can fold a set getting 15:1 against a guy checkraising the river representing a backdoor flush is clearly . . . hmm, I'm not confident on how to end that sentence . . . Im guessing maybe 1000. Course most of those people who make $250,000 this year may lost $250,000 the next year. You could have a completly new group of quarter millionarires next year.

Just curious since so many people seem to think 250,000 is so commonplace in the poker yearly salary....
Where are all these players at the high stakes tables? Just at the Stars and FullTilt players, there's probably 60-100 regulars at 25/50+ no limit/limit/omaha throughout the year. And probably 1/3 are winning players. I'm basing this soley off ONLINE players. Live maybe different if you also count the donkamenters. But to say 1,000 people make $250,000 a year based off Online Poker only seems a bit absurd to me. Anything higher than 500 quite high. I'm going to quit this thread as I can already see this one building up to the hopefuls arguing how they been playing for 1 year and poker is so easy blah blah I know everything in the world because I'm on a 2 month heater blah blah blah... Yawn. |

Not that I know how to play NL, or 8-table, but I understand that there's a reasonable number of them out there, and if they play full time I can see that drawing a quarter-mil a year if they're good. Hard way to make an easy living, though. |

im guessing 20-30 soley from the wsop? [/ QUOTE ] I think more from the WSOP alone. Then you have WSOPE, EPT, WPT and loads of other donkaments. FTOPS/ECOOP/WCOOP series. Then you have some limit players who win alot, PLO players, NLHE players etc etc. Then you have guy laliberte who donks off millions. 100+ and it aint even close. |

One more thing I'll mention.
You guys seem to think donkament winners all of a sudden win regularily? I wouldn't doubt if half the players who manage to cash donate it more about half the winnings back if not all. I guess I misinteprated the question. I thought it was saying how many players consitantly win year in and year out 250,000+ ... Sure you have the players who win donkaments, but they eventually gambooool it back or invest.. Doesn't mean they win that much yearly. Anyways, this is a retarded argument. My truely last input to this thread is that it's largely overestimated the people who can make hundreds of thousands year in and year out. People who win those big tournies usually invest and then take a break or lose small amounts back at a time (Gold?)... Sure people can go on heaters and win 250k+ in a year.. but can they consitantly do that in say over a 10 year time span by playing poker ONLY? doubtful.. If so I wouldn't think it's more than 100-300. Most of the high stakes 'pros' have an absurdly rich investment that will keep them wealthy year in and out.. there now I'm really done I hope |
