Yes. Such a basic Q that it probably belongs in Beginner's Forum.

Thanks...

...sort of.

It really isn't that commonly used. I may have only a few dozen posts here, but am not a beginner. And the reason I even asked the question was when I used it (correctly) the other day in a Home Game (with several other reasonably experienced players) - nobody else had heard the term. I explained it and we speculated on the term's etymology.

But again, despite the mildly condescending remark, I appreciate the reply.

It is everywhere else in the world by anyone with more than 20 hours of live experience.

The most annoying is when you hold something like 33 on a 355 and another 5 hits.

A classic example of counterfeiting is as follows:

You have A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Opponent has: K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Turn: Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
River: Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Your opponets full house on the flop was counterfeited by the 4 Qs on the board and you win the pot with QQQQA vs. his QQQQK
