Big drawing hand--take the free card, or build the pot?

This is true. Too many people assume that their outs to the straight or the flush are their only outs. Sometimes you're already ahead. If you're drawing to a high flush, you may have overcards to your opponent's pair. Your opponent may be drawing to a small flush or some other worse hand, etc.
