No, it's not instantaneous, but you have to start talking to her and hanging out with her so she realizes you're a cool dude who wants her, and then she'll break up with him.

GA can talk about this area better than me but ask her to a game anyway. It shouldn't be a "date", so either get cheap tickets so she can afford to buy hers or if they're nice seats then be like "oh my dad's friend got these through his company and thought I would want to go" or something, cause you don't want her to know that you're buying tickets just for her as that is decidedly date-like. But do be friendly and flirty.
