In that case, it's time for a few Irish car bombs.

There's a drink called an Irish car bomb? I find that very offensive.

You pour about half a pint of Guinness, and then a shot comprised of half Bailey's, half Jamison. You drop the shot into the Guinness and chug the whole thing before the Bailey's goes unpleasant. It's a remarkably tasty drink, even if the name is a bit unfortunate.

FWIW, girls love doing these as races against each other. Then they get messed up and fall down.

Being in Texas, I do a lot of margaritas and mojitos. I used to do rum and coke as my standard, but I'm trying to get away from that. I've been experimenting with other cocktails to try and find a new go-to drink.

If you can find someone like this (Alberta) trying new cocktails can be a pleasure (Although she is no longer there). The Alembic (in the Upper Haight) is also a place where the cocktails are well thought out and the liquor selection is extensive. I think that you need to be confident that the bartender has the skills to make a proper cocktail. If not the experience is just not that enjoyable.
